Obituary

Memorial services for Alicia Adams James are scheduled for Wednesday, 10:00 am, March 26, 2025, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kira Calhoun-Wilson officiating. The family will host a visitation on Tuesday from 6-7 pm at the funeral home.

Alicia Renee Adams James of Ardmore passed away on March 16, 2025, at her home. She was 60.

She was born the last of four children to Warren E. Adams and Doris Reed Crandall on January 5, 1965, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She attended Ardmore Schools, graduating in 1983, then continued her studies at East Central University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management in 1987. She worked in the Dallas area for several years before moving back to Ardmore in the 1990s to do consulting work. While here, she met Jamie James and his son, Matthew. Together, they moved to Morro Bay, California in 1999. Alicia and Jamie were married on January 2, 2003, on the beach, with Matthew serving as best man. In 2018, Jamie retired, and together they returned to live in Ardmore.

Alicia was a humble soul, a hard worker, and was conscientious to a fault. She loved people and trusted easily, a trait that helped her establish and foster long-lasting friendships. And though she sometimes lacked confidence, she made up for it in kindness. She read almost every Stephen King novel and knew every Crash Test Dummies song by heart. Family was important to her. She looked forward to the yearly family reunions—she never missed one. And her mother, Doris, was a big part of her life, and she took supper to her every day, through the pandemic and up until her death last September.

Her unfailing kindness, great good nature, compassion, warmth, and love were guiding stars. She loved deeply and is deeply loved. And she will be profoundly missed by all who knew her, and by every life she touched.

Alicia is survived by her husband, Jamie, and her son, Matthew, of the home; her three brothers, Lynn Adams (Brenda) of Poteau, Oklahoma, Keith Adams (Susan) of Oxnard, California, and Eric Adams (Tracy) of Van Buren, Arkansas; a stepbrother David Crandall (Margie) of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania; a stepsister Anne Davidson of Warr Acres, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her dear mother Doris Crandall, stepfather Bill Crandall, and father Warren Adams.

The family has requested that memorial contributions in Memory of Alicia James be made to the Ardmore Animal Shelter, 321 Carol Brown Blvd., Ardmore, Oklahoma 73401.
