Funeral services for Betty Jo Christian will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday December 11, 2025, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor John Alfred Credel Jr. officiating with burial following at Clearview Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers and flower girls.

Betty Christian was the second child born to Hezekiah and Ruby Johnson Williamson on February 2, 1937, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She enjoyed spending time and having fun with family and friends. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. D. C. Hannah, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Church and became active in the youth ministry, Baptist Training Union and Sunday School. She continued her Christian service at Mt. Zion Baptist Church as a devoted member and Church Secretary before stepping down. She finished her Christian walk under the leadership of Pastor John Alfred Credle Jr., Senior Pastor.

Her educational career began when she attended Dunbar Elementary School, first through sixth grade. She attended Ardmore Douglas High School, seventh grade through twelfth grade. While at Douglas she was involved in many activities, majorette and clubs. After graduation she married Wallace Christian and to this union, once son, Tony Christian and two daughters, Chandra L. Christian and Karen D. Christian was born. Betty went on to have five more sons, Carl E. Fields, Eric Fields, Wendell Fields, Daryle Fields, and Gerald Fields.

Betty worked for the Ardmore Public Schools at Lincoln Elementary School as a teacher's assistant. She attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma receiving her degree and began her career with the State of Oklahoma Department of Human Services as a Social Worker working with Geriatric clients. Betty loved working with senior citizens and enjoyed a lengthy career with DHS and retired from the State of Oklahoma. Betty led a very busy and active life. She was a member and officer of the Ladies of Action working on many community issues and scholarships for students. She was also a member and officer of the Ardmore Douglas Alumni Association, enjoying hosting and working on many reunion activities. Betty was an avid traveler, traveling abroad to Paris France and Germany. She and her son Wendell enjoyed their time out of the country. She traveled the States from the East Coast to the West Coast. She enjoyed the Cherry Blossom Season in Washington, DC with her daughter Chandra and granddaughter Erika. For many years Betty never missed the Grambling State University games and would travel on to New Orleans. When not traveling she loved antiquing  and decorating as hobbies. She made beautiful flower arrangements. She also was an amazing cook and loved hosting and opening her home to family and friends for wonderful dinners. She would allow her sons/buddies, Tony and Carl to participate if they followed close instructions while her best buddy Eric supervised.

Betty loved and enjoyed her home and family. With family by her side, Betty went home to be with the Lord November 25, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hezekiah and Ruby Williamson; daughter, Karen Christian; sisters, Cleta Williams, Gwendolyn Taylor; brothers, Jimmy L. Williamson, Marvin Williamson; grandson, Julian Fields; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Fields. Betty leaves to forever cherish precious memories her daughter, Chandra (Wendell) Landreaux of Reno, Nevada; sons, Tony L. (JoAnn) Christian of Edmond, Oklahoma, Carl E. (Debra) Fields of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Eric (Kathleen deceased) Fields of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Wendell Fields of Raeford, North Carolina and Gerald Fields of Dallas, Texas, Daryle Fields of Ardmore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Erika Landreaux, JoAnna Smith, Stephanie Christian, Latrisha Piggee Halstied, Maurice Landreaux, Eric W. Fields, II, Jarrod Fields, Joshua Fields, Jeremy Fields, Justin Fields, Aadil Noureldin Fields; great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Willis, Shirley Johnson-Tomlin, Rudolph Virginia Williamson, one Hezekiah Williamson; Deacon Scurry; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and sowed into all of their lives; many cousins, family members, friends and a host of loved ones.
