Obituary

William E. "Bill" Lumpkin, Jr. was born April 12, 1940 in Oklahoma City, OK to William Ernest and Erma Louise (Godwin) Lumpkin. He passed this life on June 5, 2018 while at his home in Ardmore, OK.

On May 11, 1968, he married the love of his life, Anna Lynn Weichbrodt in Ardmore.  They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Bill's family moved to Ardmore when he was three years old.  As a young boy, he peddled vegetables by wagon in Southeast Ardmore.  Later he worked at a local grocery store on Caddo Street, then eventually Wigs Wag-a-bag. He graduated from Ardmore High School in 1958, where he was class president. He is also a graduate from the University of Oklahoma School of Architecture.

He began his professional career for Harold Flood at Collins & Flood, Architects and Engineers, which later became Flood, Isenberg, Hann.  In 1975, he opened his own architectural firm, that eventually became Lumpkin and Associates Architects, which he continued until his death.

Bill was a member of the Jaycees, and in 1975 he joined the Ardmore Rotary Club, where he remained an active member.  He was instrumental in developing the city parks for Ardmore, as well as the Parks and Recreation Board.  In 1976, he was recognized as one of the Three Outstanding Young Oklahomans.  Bill loved Ardmore and was a true advocate for his community.  He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he has served as Deacon and on the Board of Trustees.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Klingsick and her husband Wayne.

He is survived by his wife Anna Lynn, of the home; son Matt Lumpkin and wife Natalie; daughter Ashley Ibarra and husband Tony; grandchildren Talison Lumpkin, Will Ibarra and Jacob Ibarra; step-grandchildren Zach Withrow, Taylor and Joe Bufkin; brother Harold Lumpkin and partner David Herron; nephew Marcus Klingsick and wife Teresa; niece Whitney Knepp and husband David; mother-in-law Maidette Smith Bransford; sister-in-law Brenda Heller and husband Robert, children Morgan Heller, Nick Heller and Brooklyn Heller; brother-in-law Randy Weichbrodt and wife Jana, children Tara and Jake O'Connell and Marissa and Preston Wray; brother-in-law Jon Weichbrodt and wife Dusty, children Noel and Elissa Weichbrodt, Paige and Trent Hudson, Zach and Elise Weichbrodt, Lydia Weichbrodt, Hannah Weichbrodt and Micah Weichbrodt; great nieces and nephews:  Ky and Kamdyn Klingslick, Abigail and Emily Knepp, Tague O'Connell, Lucy Wray, Zeke and Miles Weichbrodt, Mailey, Coralie and Warrick Hudson, and Sebastian Weichbrodt; step-great grandchildren: Stephen and Jazzlyn Bufkin; and life-long friend Mike Koziewicz (Koz).

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 10:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Bill Galbraith officiating.  The interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  The family will host a visitation on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Craddock Funeral Home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Ted Pasley, Mike Hisey, Larry Sloan, Virgil Mowbray, Ken Tackett, Mike McCulloh and Neil Stitt.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the "AHS Class of 1958".

Memorials can be made to the Ardmore Parks & Recreation Department, Ardmore Animal Care, Inc., the First Presbyterian Church in memory of Bill Lumpkin or the charity of your choice.
