Billy was born July 19, 1951 in Shaw, Mississippi to B. D. Wood and Eries Mary Lambert Wood and died March 14, 2023 in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 23 days.

Billy was fortunate enough to retire from two jobs…Dornick Hills Golf Course where he spent many years as a green's keeper and from Wilkinson Nursery and Landscape Company.  Billy was much more than the sum of his occupations.  He was first and foremost a man of faith and loved his family.  He was a disciple of his faith and took great, loving, care of his family.  He was a friend's friend and once he considered you a friend, you were family to him.  You could hardly ever find him inside, he loved being outside and working.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the game of golf. He was one of the people consulted when Dornick Hills was working on the restoration of the golf course.  His church was a huge part of his life, assisting in any manner that he could.  He was a founder of the Grace Place Burrito Ministry!  He married Jacqueline Mae Johnston on July 3, 1972 in Ardmore, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2017.  She was the light of his life! Billy's main purpose in life was showing others the Way, the Truth and the Light.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother, Dean, and an infant son. He is survived by his sons, John Carl Wood and his wife Mel of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Joseph Kevin Wood and his wife Khriston of Ardmore, Oklahoma, David Doyle Wood of Norman, Oklahoma, Andrew Jackson Wood of Ardmore, Oklahoma; brothers, Michael Wood of Lone Grove, Oklahoma and Charles Wood of Dickson, Oklahoma; sister, Diane Wood of Ardmore, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dillin Wood, Adam Wood, Alyssa Wood, Jericho McGinnis, Elias Wood, Madisen Wood, Meghan Wood and Ruby Wood.
