A celebration of the life of Bobby Eugene Owens will be at 1:00 pm Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Brady Chapel of the First Baptist Church, Ardmore, officiated by Dr. Alton Fannin. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with the assistance of the family.

Bobby Eugene Owens was born July 17, 1951, to Arthur Manuel Owens and Ruby Hazel Pritchett in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Bobby left this life, surrounded by his loving family, to spend everlasting life in Heaven on January 21, 2024.

Bobby grew up and lived all of his life in Ardmore. He was a graduate of Ardmore High School Class of 1970. He and Mary Jean Weatherly were married June 25, 1971, in Ardmore, and would have celebrated their 47th anniversary, as Mary preceded him in death on June 10, 2018.

Bobby turned down a full scholarship to OU to start his career at Uniroyal/BF Goodrich tire plant. His starting position was in shipping, working his way up to the Quality Assurance/Test Wheel lab where he became supervisor and did all the government testing of tires. After 42 years of service, not wanting to, but had to take medical retirement.

Bobby was a huge sports fan and volunteered filming all of the Plainview football games from the late 80's to 2000 and never missed a game and then went on for many years to work the scoreboard for football and basketball games. Bobby also loved watching his OU Sooners. He also was an avid racecar fan where he spent Saturday nights for a span of 30+ years at Southern Oklahoma Speedway. He was also a yard fanatic that loved to mow and weed eat every 3-4 days and had a beautiful yard. If you couldn't mow in a straight line, he didn't want your help! He even helped his daughters at a young age, mow a few lawns and care for the neighborhood swimming pool, to teach them work ethics. Then went on to teach his son the same. Bobby and Mary, the parents of 3 children, Brandi, Kerri, and Brent. Bobby was a gentle giant with a heart of gold, very tender-hearted, and always tried to see the best in everyone. He always put others before himself and was a Father, PaPa, and true friend to many. He showed his family daily to love unconditionally, forgive, compassion, work, and work to provide for your family and to never give up. A kind and gentle person, along with our mother, Bobby welcomed everyone, no matter their walk of life, with loving and open arms. Our dad had strength, courage, patience, and humbleness. He was a faithful blood and plasma donor for at least 30 years. Dad had been sick for many years with diabetes then to the past several years with kidney and heart disease. The past year had really been hard on Dad as he was hospitalized numerous times for 6-week IV therapy, blood transfusions, and eventually had to have his leg amputated on May 7m 2023. As a family, we seen the struggle, but can't even begin to know the real struggle he endured. But to know him you couldn't tell because he was the most persevering, patient, courageous, and humble person. He was so excited to get his prosthetic at the end of November and learn to walk again and be more self-sufficient because he was definitely not the man to depend upon anyone. Then illness fell upon him Christmas Eve and was hospitalized 17 days from then until January 12th. When the family was called in on the night of January 12th, we all witnessed dad at death's door and was told he might not even make it through the night. But God had other plans for Dad, He woke dad up at 4 am Saturday morning and dad instantly wanted out of the bed and into the recliner, so with Ronald and nurses help, his wishes were done. We truly believe this was a divine act of God and Madison held her PaPa's hand and said a short prayer with his and he repeated it word for word, helping secure him in his true and loving relationship with God. Dad ate a huge lunch after being unresponsive for 38 hours and then his wish was fulfilled, and he was able to be transported home after very unstable vital signs. Dad was able to conversate, laugh and cry with us, eat several of his favorite home cooked meals, and spend precious moments with all of us for about 5 days, until we all had to let go and let God. Dad will forever remain in our hearts and be our Guardian Angel. All of our family is at peace knowing he is not having to suffer and is in a better place than we could possibly be in, on this earth.  He's with Jesus, Mamma, and other loved ones. Thank you, God, for taking Dad home.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, granddaughter Morgan Michelle Owens, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, mother, and father-in-law. Bobby is survived by his children, Brandi Owens Johnson and her husband Russell, Kerri Owens, and Brent Owens and his wife Jessie, grandchildren, Britni Thompson and husband GT, Madison Brown and husband Ronald, Harlie and Macie Johnson, Garrett Pickens and wife Chelsea, Dawson Pickens, Riley Owens, Kolten Owens, and Kylie McClendon. His great grandchildren, Jenesis, Izaiah, Jesiah, Jireh, Adan, Amiyah, A'Myrakle, Loyaltee, Gabriel, Victorie, Jaden, Morgan, Otis, and Nowa due any day. Brothers-in-law Roy and Jerry Weatherly and families, sister-in-law Thelma Helm and family, Cousin Dale Eubanks, nieces and nephews, many other cousins, and special friends.

Thank you to Madison, Ronald, Macie & Riley for the direct care of our dad and PaPa, yall were amazing, and to all other family & friends, William Reynolds and Murtis Windham that worked together to help make his last days with us special. He knew he was loved deeply. Special thank you to Brother Fannin for all the hospital visits and prayers with dad through the years, Dr. Thomas McCulloh for 40 years of caring for dad and Cross Timbers Hospice.
