Brenda Jane Green, 83, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Gainesville, Texas. She was born on July 8, 1942, in Leon, Oklahoma, to J. Garnet Petty and Ouilda Arthur Petty.

Brenda spent her early childhood in Leon before the passing of her father when she was just 14 years old. Following that difficult loss, she and her mother moved to Topeka, Kansas, where her mother began working at Stanley’s Flowers. It was there that Brenda met the delivery boy, Kent Green, who would become the love of her life.

Brenda and Kent were married on October 1, 1960, and together built a beautiful life centered on faith, love, and family. God was always at the center of their marriage and home, guiding them through life’s joys and challenges with unwavering devotion and grace.

Together they raised three children: Johnny, Kimberly, and Melinda. In 1979, the family moved to southern Oklahoma, where Brenda continued pursuing the work she loved in the floral industry. She worked at Dodson Floral and Gary’s Flowers until 1983, when she fulfilled her dream of opening her own business, Brenda’s Flowers. Through her creativity, hard work, and caring nature, Brenda touched countless lives and became known for bringing beauty and comfort to others during both joyful and difficult moments. After 43 years in the floral business, Brenda retired, leaving behind a legacy of service, artistry, and kindness.

After retiring, Brenda devoted her time to serving the Lord through her church. She loved volunteering, teaching Bible study, and sharing God’s love with everyone she met. Her faith was evident in the way she cared for others, offered encouragement, and welcomed people with warmth and compassion.

Brenda dearly loved her grandchildren and took great joy in making holidays magical and memorable for her family. Her grandchildren will always remember her beloved “candy tree” during the holidays, homemade ice cream in the summertime, and haystacks every Christmas Eve. She created traditions filled with warmth, laughter, and love that will live on in the hearts of her family for generations.

Brenda will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, compassionate heart, and the love she shared so freely with those around her.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of sixty-five and a half years, Kent Green; her children, Johnny and Theresa Green of Ardmore, Kimberly and Marcus Needham of Sherman, Texas, Melinda and Rick Wallace of Ardmore, and a treasured son in every way that mattered, Tony and Cynthia Ford of Allen, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, Jeremy, Bethany, Caleb, Joshua, Hannah, Abigail, Elizabeth, Faith, Brad, and Jessi; 26 great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will treasure her memory always.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. Garnet Petty and Ouilda Arthur Petty; her sister, Media June Hicks; and her brother-in-law, George Hicks.

A Celebration of Life service honoring Brenda will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 6:30 p.m. at H2O Life Church in Ardmore. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of her life, faith, and the love she shared with so many.
