Obituary

Funeral services for Cathy J. Baxter are scheduled for Monday at 10:00 am at the Church of Christ on Merrick Drive in Ardmore, with Willie Sanchez officiating.  Interment will follow in Lone Cedar Cemetery.  The family will host a visitation at the Craddock Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:00.

Cathy J. Baxter was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on January 30, 1948 to R. L. and Myrtle (Gilliam) Pennington. She passed from this life on October 9, 2019 in Ardmore with her daughters by her side.

She grew up in Ardmore and attended Ardmore High School. She married Jim Baxter on September 14, 1964, and with this union, she had her three children.

She was known as a woman of strong Christian faith. She was a member of the Church of Christ for 50 years. She loved attending church on Sundays, loved her church family, and enjoyed singing hymns.

Her family was her greatest joy. She was happiest when her grandchildren and great grandchildren would visit, or when there were family gatherings. She also looked forward to her monthly trips to Edmond with her two daughters.

Before her illness took over, Cathy enjoyed bowling, camping, gardening, and playing bingo. She enjoyed her job at Ten Pin Lanes prior to retiring at Uniroyal after many years of service.

She recently moved to Canoe Brook and was excited about the transition. Although her time there was brief, she enjoyed it greatly.

She is survived by her two daughters; Lisa Caldwell and her husband Rodney of Madill; Lana Perryman and her husband Duane of Ardmore; son, James Scott Baxter and his wife Brooke of Falconhead; brother, Danny Pennington and his wife Louise of Ardmore; grandchildren, LaRae Earley, Ft. Worth, Tx, Derrick Perryman of Healdton, Ok., Jackob Caldwell, Ardmore, and Cody Caldwell, Ardmore; great grandchildren, Annabelle Earley, Easton Earley, Derrian Perryman, Avery Perryman, Maci Jo Perryman, Kimber Perryman, Halle Caldwell, Stryker Martin, Quade Caldwell, Brynlee Caldwell, and Rowdy Caldwell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.L. and Myrtle Pennington.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Derrick Perryman, Jackob Caldwell, Cody Caldwell, Cody Earley, Danny Pennington and James Scott Baxter.
