A memorial service for Charles Ray Wright, Sr. is scheduled for 4:00 pm Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Michael Apala officiating. A reception will follow the service from 5:00 until 8:00 pm.

Charles was born Sunday, June 23, 1940, at his home in Ravia, Oklahoma to Elbert Horace Wright and Violet Lee McGlocklin Wright and died Saturday, June 15, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 23 days.

Charles was a graduate of Sweeny High School, Class of 1960 in Sweeny, Texas. With a hard-working, entrepreneurial spirit, Charles wore many hats during his life. He was a Master Electrician and worked in several paper mills and for Brown & Root Construction Company in Texas. He owned several businesses, including Jeans and Things in Ardmore and Dueitt-Wright AC & Electrical Company. He worked for Ardmore Public Schools and Uniroyal, where he eventually retired. He was also a former Masonic Shriner and an involved member of the Equip Life Church, when able, he served in many capacities and donated to various charities.

He was very proud of his family, always boasting about them to anyone who would listen. Charles is preceded in death by his parents; brother, H. D. Wright; spouses, Sandra Schaffer Wright and Maria Tinkler Wright. He is survived by his children, Cynthia Ann Stubbs & Brent, Diana Taliaferro & Cory, Charles Ray Wright Jr. & Sylvia, and Kenneth Wright & Desirae; grandchildren, C. J. Stubbs, Chelsie & Daren Benham, Shara Kimbro, Brantley, Elijah, and Chason Taliaferro, Mary, Zane, Callie, Weston, and Cohen Wright; great grandchildren, Grayson and Payton Benham, and sisters, Mildred Futch and Corinne Brooks.
