Obituary

Funeral services for Claudette Springman will be at 2:00 Tuesday January 23, 2024, at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Brother Eddie Ince officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery with Justin Patton, Robert Melkovitz, Cason Dollar, Jaden Dollar, Jace Wells, Ben Dollar, Justin Wells and Nick Wells serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday January 21, 2024, from 3:00 until 5:00 pm at Craddock Funeral Home.

Claudette Springman was born Wednesday April 13, 1932, in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Ernest and Frankie Belle (Thompson) Hawkins and died Wednesday January 17, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family, in Springer, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 4 days.

Claudette grew up in Bradley, Oklahoma with her sisters, Gail, Joy, and brother, Sam. She was an accomplished basketball player. After graduation from Bradley High School and attending Business Administration classes, she worked for Bell Telephone in Lindsay, Oklahoma. She married John H. Springman, June 26, 1950, and they raised three children, Leatrice, Wynema, and Johnny. Moving to Davis Oklahoma she returned to her farming roots, assisting in all aspects of farm life. After a few years, the family moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, where she worked for over 20 years as the lab technician for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company. In 1978, Springer OK became her home. After retiring, she became active in the community serving on the Carter County Election Board, Springer Helping Hands, and as a substitute teacher at Springer High School. She was always seen working in the yard, garden, and her beautiful flower beds. She loved her family to the fullest, all five generations, and was often at one of their ball games. She enjoyed watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ernest, and Frankie Belle Hawkins; Siblings, Gail Smelley, Joy Hawkins, and Sam Hawkins; sister-in-law, Mary Robertson and son-in-law, Jim Massey. She is survived by her children, Leatrice Jo Massey of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Wynema Kay Dollar and her husband Ralph II of Springer, Oklahoma, John Houston Springman II and his wife LeaAnn of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Grandchildren Denisa Melkovitz and Richard of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Dawny Mullennex and Joshua of Katie, Oklahoma, Julia Sinclair and David of Hennepin, Oklahoma, Ralph Dollar III and Heather of Hennepin, Oklahoma, Joanie Wells and Jerry of Washington, Oklahoma; Great-Grand Children Roger Bates Jr. and Heather, Desiree Veca and Austin, Robert Melkovitz, and Britton, Shelby Lail and Stewart, Claudia Bean and Ashchen, Justin Patton and Morgan, Jessica Schneider and Nathan, Alexis Simon, Jaden Dollar and Alicia, Cason Dollar and Haley, Benjamin Dollar, Nick Wells, Justin Wells, Jenna Wells, Jace Wells, Jaylea Wells, Kalee and Trey San Pedro, Jadence Mullennex; Great – Great Grand Children Elijah Patton, Braxton Bean, Camden Wallace, Lane Wallace, Ruby Kay Wallace, Tecumseh Wallace, Lucia Simpson, Brynley Simpson, Brailey Simpson, Regia Simpson, Beau Schneider, Braylon Dollar; sisters-in-law Thelma Howell and Rebecca Hawkins, brothers-in-law Gene and David Springman and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends.
