Dana Lee Champion Mordy, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed from this life to her eternal home on December 9, 2025, at the age of 93. She was born December 1, 1932, to Charles Nelson Champion and Dixie McGhee Champion, in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The family moved to Tulsa when Dana was young, where she had many friends, and in 1947 her family moved back to Ardmore.

Dana was a graduate of the Ardmore High School class of 1950. Upon graduation, she attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Kappa Gamma sorority. She married Burke Mordy on August 8, 1953, and after Burke's graduation from law school, they moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana and later Fairbanks, Alaska while Burke served as a Colonel in the Air Force. From this marriage they had two sons, Mike Mordy and David Mordy.

Dana was very active in community affairs.  She was President of the YWCA for three years, on the Board of Directors of the local Head Start Program for two years, served on the Ardmore Main Street Board of Directors and was on the Design Committee for the Ardmore Depot.  She was the first PTA President of Northwest Elementary School, President of Ardmore Day Nursery, Member of the Hosting Committee for the Goddard Center, the First President of Ardmore Tennis Associaton and was President of the Ladies Golf Associaton of Dornick Hills Country Club. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church since 1954, where she served on the Ruth Price Altar Guild for many years.  Dana was a long-time member of the Holly Garden Club.

Dana loved her home, which she designed many years ago, and actually convinced the Ardmore City Commissioners to name the street Rockford Road (after Rockford Road in Tulsa, her former residence in Tulsa). She loved decorating her home, working in her yard and her flower beds and enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family in her home.     She loved her husband of sixty-eight years and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She and Burke had the opportunity to travel all over the world with their many friends and family and enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places.

Dana respected high fashion and was herself the epitome of fashion. She looked forward to formal events and parties, where she was always fashionably dressed. She was never caught "under-dressed," not even working in her yard.

Dana was preceded in death by her parents Charles Champion and Dixie McGhee Champion, her husband, Burke Mordy, brothers Tom R. Champion and Charles Champion and his wife, Nita Champion, and their children, Timothy Champion, Susan Champion and Charles Champion, III.

Dana leaves behind a family she cherished above all else, her two sons, Mike Mordy and David Mordy, and their families, Mike's wife Christy, and their children, Nataly Mordy and Chase Mordy, Nataly's children, Burke and Lilly, and Chase's daughter LivAnn, and David's wife, Tracie and their daughter, Caroline Mordy.   Dana was also succeeded by a nephew, Joseph Scott Champion.

Memorial services for Dana Lee Champion Mordy are scheduled for Saturday, December 13  at 2 pm at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, with a reception immediately following at the St. Phillips Community Center.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her incredible caretakers and special people in Dana's life: Viola, Mercedes, Donna, Holley, Rose, Darla, Patsy, Sherry, Cindy, Daisy, Brenda and Bruce and all of the wonderful caregivers at Cross Timbers Hospice.  Everyone of you made a big difference in Dana's care.
