Danny
Steele
Nov 16, 1944 — Feb 22, 2025
Danny Delano Steele went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Healdton, Oklahoma, at the age of 80.
Danny was born on November 16, 1944, to George and Ann Steele in Wilson, Oklahoma. The youngest of seven children, he was known for his playful and spirited nature. Growing up, Danny enjoyed the freedoms that came with being the baby of the family—from taking joyrides on his tricycle through downtown Wilson to spending cherished time in Norman with his sister June and her husband, Sam.
While attending Wilson High School, Danny met the love of his life, Dixie Patrick. After graduating high school he began a lifelong career with Oklahoma Natural Gas. In 1968, Danny and Dixie married in Wilson and eventually made their home and raised their family in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Danny and Dixie were devoted members of First Baptist Church of Ardmore, where they faithfully served in various roles for nearly 50 years. A passionate car enthusiast, Danny took great pride in his 1966 Pontiac GTO. He loved life on the farm, whether riding through the pasture to check cattle or tackling tasks that allowed him to spend time on his tractor. Danny's quick wit, and legendary barbecue skills made everyone feel welcome.
Danny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dixie Steele; his parents, George and Ann Steele; and his siblings, Paul David Steele, Marion "Red" Steele, George Ann Allen, and June Stearns. He is survived by his brother, Charlie Steele, and wife, Mary Ann, of Ardmore; sister, Virginia "Nell" Sullivan, of Ardmore; daughter, Dana Richardson, and husband, Johnny, of Wilson; son, Derek Steele, and wife, Christy, of Fort Gibson; and son, Daryl Steele, and wife, Shannon, of Ardmore. Danny also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Johnny "Tre'" Richardson III, Landon Richardson, Luke Steele, Delaney Richardson, Ryan Steele, Ruby Steele, and Dylan Steele, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews: Barry Stearns, Charlie Paul Steele, David Christopher Steele, Dean Sullivan, Jarrod Steele, Mike Steele, Phil Stearns, and Pug Allen.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church of Ardmore with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore.
