Delles "Adren" Poteet

Funeral services for Delles "Adren" Poteet are scheduled for Wednesday, August 14 ^th at 10:00 a.m. at the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Daniel officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton, OK.

Delles Adren Poteet was born on August 21, 1928 to Dallas Adren Poteet and Edna Jane (Wyrick) Poteet in Cromwell, Oklahoma.  His mother, Edna, passed away in May, 1931, shortly after the birth of his brother, Bill.  A few years later, his father married Bessie Hayes and welcomed a second brother, Bob, to the family.  Together Dallas and Bessie later had a son, Jim, who joined the family.

Adren attended Guthrie schools until his senior year when the family moved to Oklahoma City.  He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City.  He then attended the University of Oklahoma for 3 ½ years, studying engineering.  He then joined the U.S. Navy on August 15, 1951 and served for four years during the Korean Conflict flying helicopters.  He received his honorable discharge from the Navy on August 10, 1955.

Shortly after returning from service in the navy he met and married Cathryn Jane Andrews in Anadarko, Oklahoma on June 22, 1956.  Adren and Jane had three children, Delles Bruce, Jamie Lou and Paula Jane. On February 16, 1992, Jane passed away after a lengthy illness. They lived in Velma, Oklahoma, Whitesboro, Texas and moved to Healdton, Oklahoma in 1961.

Adren then met and married Nancy Phillips on September 21, 1993.  They lived in Healdton until moving to Oklahoma City in 2016 at The Legends of Rivendell assisted living center.  Nancy passed away on January 25, 2019.

When Adren and Jane married, he owned Adren's Men's Store in Lindsay, Oklahoma for a while and Jane performed alterations. When they moved to Healdton, Adren began working for The Dia-Log Company for 33 years before retiring in mid 1990s. He enjoyed horses and racing, golfing, gardening and watching any OU Sooner event.  He and Nancy also delivered Meals on Wheels in Healdton.

Adren was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas and Edna, step mother, Bessie, his wife, Jane, his brothers, Bill, Bob and Jim, nephew, Dallas and his second wife, Nancy.

He is survived by his children, Bruce Poteet and husband, Anthony Natale, Jamie Aldridge and husband, Jack, and Paula Brown, and husband, Eric; two grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Tyler Glen Brown and Cathryn Jane Brown; niece, Tana and her husband, Ronnie Worsham, niece, Detra Branch, and recently found niece, Freida Reynolds Amos of Pensacola, FL.;great nephews, Brandon Worsham, Kale Worsham, Casey Worsham, Jarred Branch; great niece, Brianna Worsham; and Nancy's children, Peggy, Gwen, Jill, Ward, Nan and Stacy.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Brown, Tim Brauer, Eric Brown, Mike Bingman, Colton Singleton and Jarred Branch

The family would like to thank the Staff of Legend at Rivendell especially Brittani, David, Zyra, Rhonda and many others. Also, Frontier Hospice and Right at Home Healthcare.
