Derek E. Chivers went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2022.  He is survived by his father, Charlie E. Chivers, III; mother, Beverly A. Chivers; son, Austin; brother, Dustin and his wife, Veronica; sister Tess and niece, Clara.

Derek was born on December 10, 1978 in Tulsa, Ok. He grew up in Ardmore, Ok and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1997 and later attended the University of Oklahoma.  He had a love for tennis and won a state championship in 1996.  In 2010 he began working with numerous Ardmore tennis players and in 2019 started coaching his sister, Tess.

He was an active member of the Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ where he served on two mission trips to Ukraine.  He had a zeal for fitness and even achieved a black belt in taekwondo.  He had a kind, tender and compassionate heart and was sympathetic to anyone in need.  He had a love for animals and had volunteered at the Ardmore Animal Shelter. He was an avid reader with a photographic memory and could quote any line from any book, movie or television show.

Derek is finally at rest and we will hold him close in our hearts always.  He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to his family.  He was recently blessed with a son who he adored and was looking forward to the joys of fatherhood.
