Funeral services for Dixie Kaye Steele are scheduled for Friday, December 23, 2022, at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Ardmore with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Ardmore.

Dixie Steele was born January 7, 1947 to R.D. Patrick and Ruby (Walk) Patrick in Wilson, Ok. She left this life to join the Lord on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.

After Dixie graduated from Wilson High School in 1965, she went on to study Education at Oklahoma State University.

She started her career teaching Home Economics at Dickson High School.  She later received her Master of Counseling and spent thirty-three years as a counselor at Plainview High School.  During her career she made a lasting impression on every student she worked with.

During High School at Wilson, Dixie met Danny Steele, the love of her life.  They married in Wilson in 1968. They prided their marriage and family on their strong love of the Lord.

Dixie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ardmore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.D. and Ruby Patrick, she is survived by her husband Danny Steele of the home; brother, Ron Patrick and his wife, Doretta of Ardmore; children, Dana and Shannon Richardson of Wilson, Derek and Christy Steele of Ft Gibson and Daryl and Shannon Steele of Ardmore; grandchildren, Tre Richardson, Landon Richardson, Delaney Richardson, Luke Steele, Ryan Steele, Ruby Steele and Dylan Steele. As well as many beloved family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mercy Health Foundation Cancer Center Fund, and organization Dixie felt strongly about.
