Douglas Brown was born November 19, 1931 to Essie Brown and John Hembree in Ardmore, OK. He passed from this life peacefully in his home on June 19, 2023 at the age of 91. He has now reunited with his beloved wife Louise in Heaven.

Douglas attended Ardmore Public Schools as a child. He proudly served in the US Army as a combat infantryman at age 16 and bravely fought in the Korean War. Douglas married Clara "Louise" (Taylor) on August 9, 1953, in Gainesville, TX. Doug and Louise had 2 daughters, Linda and Beverly. After his time in the Army, he served as a First Sergeant (Retired) in the National Guard and worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service until his retirement from civil service on his 55th birthday.

Doug enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, riding his bicycle, photography, yardwork, and shooting guns. He also liked antique shopping, cars, motorcycles, and spending time with his family.  He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma State Athletics. He had a great sense of humor and loved having coffee with his friends. He was both a good listener and storyteller. He lovingly spoiled his grandchildren and his dogs, Chi-Chi and Lucy.  Doug was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. Doug, known affectionately by his family as "Papa" was the absolute best father and grandfather and will be missed so dearly.

Doug was preceded in death by his loving wife Louise Brown; parents, Essie Brown and John Hembree; his grandmother who raised him, Linda M. Brown; half-sisters Ginger Tyler and Betty Jean Horn; and great-great granddaughter Kimber Ellen Chaney.

He is survived by his daughters Linda Harris and Beverly Enderby and her husband Bill Enderby; brother Gene Hembree; grandchildren Buddy Harris, Krystal Christian, and her husband Scotty Christian. Dr. Austin Solomons and his wife Dr. Sarah Solomons, C. Kahner Enderby, and Tiffany Lucas and her husband Jason Lucas; Great grandchildren Rylee Hale and her husband Jase Chaney, Braxton Christian, Landon Howell, Blayde Christian, and Cooper Solomons; and great-great granddaughter Blakely Hale.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, June 23, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Dr. David Daniel officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers are James Patton, Orville Day, Tom Berryhill, Mike Rogers, Doug Williams, and Phillip Eggenberg.
