Edward Dewayne Merritt was born January 8, 1960 in Ventura, CA to Edward J. Merritt and Mary "Kathryne" Merritt. He moved to Ardmore, OK as an infant and remained until he passed from this life at the age of 63.

Edward, "Eddie", graduated from Plainview High School in 1978 and furthered his education at Murray State College. After graduation, Eddie married the love of his life, Patricia Fore, in May

1983. To this union was born his two children, Bryan and Morgan. Eddie had a lifelong love for music, spending much of his early years in a band. Family gatherings always included a guitar and singing alongside his brothers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family. Eddie was known for his generosity and charismatic personality. He had an infectious laugh, an uncanny ability to tell a story, and never missed an opportunity to tell his friends and family that he loved them.

Eddie Merritt departed this life on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edward and Kathryne Merritt, and brothers Marty and Mike Merritt.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Patricia Merritt; son, Bryan Merritt and wife Sarah, all of Ardmore, OK; daughter Morgan Sikes and husband Kyle of Tulsa, OK; brother, Mark Merritt and wife Diane of Ardmore, OK; sister, Kathy Patterson of Security, CO, seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, December 21st from 6 to 7:00 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.
