Obituary

Funeral services for Ferral Howard are scheduled for Thursday, January 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Country Tabernacle Church with Darren Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Memorial West Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.

Ferral Dean Howard was born July 6, 1938 to Mattie Blanche (Mauldin) and James Carson Howard in Cheek, OK. He passed from this life on January 12, 2024 at the age of 85.

Ferral was raised in Cheek and, along with his family, moved to Dumas, TX in 1949. In Dumas, Ferral met Wanda Joyce Throckmorton. They were married on November 22, 1957 in Dumas. They have two sons, Michael and Keith.

Ferral was a humble man of great faith. He was devoted to God and his church. He and Wanda are members of Country Tabernacle Church (founded by his mother Mattie) in Cheek, Oklahoma. He was a loving husband and father. Family and friends often sought his sensible advice and straight forward "way of thinking". He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ferral enjoyed working his cattle and quail hunting. He also enjoyed watching Oklahoma football and the Dallas Cowboys. Ferral was a 32nd Degree Mason.

In 1967 Ferral and Wanda founded Ferral Howard Construction in Lubbock, Texas. Ferral oversaw may building projects in north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Today his legacy continues through this family-owned business.

Ferral was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mattie Howard; brothers Bobby D and JB; sisters Vida Word, Charlene Howard, and Betty Potts.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wanda Howard; son Michael Howard and his wife Jana and son Keith Howard; grandchildren Kaycee (Matt) Rider, Robin Freer (Jonathan Bryant), Clayton (Haylee) Howard, Jared (Courtney) Howard, Sarah (Nick) Rabenhorst; great grandchildren Jackson, Leah, and Caleb Rider, Brooke Freer, Reed, and Kendall Bryant, Hayze and Harlow Howard, Hazel, Rainy, Claire, and Leia Howard, and Stella Rabenhorst; brother Wayne Howard; sisters Laquita Taylor and Barbara Butler; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
