A memorial service for Frederick "Fred" Land Gordon is scheduled for Monday, July 23rd at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church of Ardmore with Dr. Bill Galbraith and Dr. Rick Baggett officiating. The family will hold a private burial. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon July 22rd at the Craddock Funeral Home from 4:00 to 5:00.
Fred was born in Ardmore on August 29, 1934 to James Maurice Gordon, MD and Dilla Marie (Crow) Gordon. He passed this life on July 17, 2018 in an Oklahoma City hospital.
On December 28th, 1957 Fred married Virginia "Ginger" Ann Jones. Ginger preceded him in death. Fred later married Nancy Lynn Stephens Yeatts on January 2, 2014 in Ardmore.
Fred graduated of Ardmore High School in 1952, attended Murray State College, and received his bachelor's degree in Geology from Oklahoma State University. Fred proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. He worked a few years in the oil industry before going to work in sales for the Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceutical Company. With his job, Fred and his family moved several times including Fort Smith, AR. and Houston, TX. While in Houston he and his family helped to build the Atascocita Presbyterian Church. After retiring from the pharmaceutical industry, Fred ranched outside of Dickson, OK. Fred loved to travel and was an avid OSU fan. He was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ardmore.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Nancy; son Warren Joseph Gordon of Ardmore; daughter Melissa Lynn McCormack and her husband David of Aurora, CO.; step son, William Yeatts and his wife Shelly of Dallas, TX.; step daughters, Fanayre Shugart and her husband David of Flower Mound, TX, Jane Baker of Plano, TX. and Betty Alexander and her husband Jeff of Plano, TX; sister- in- law, Deanna Gordon of Aurora, CO. grandson Ryder McCormack and 9 step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Ginger and two brothers, Robert and Joe Gordon.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Scott Chapman, Hank Morse, Bill Chapman, Eric Chapman, Fred Chapman and Clif Gordon.
Memorials can be left to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 223 West Broadway St. Ardmore, OK, 73401.
