Gale Christine
Vaughn
Sep 27, 1945 — May 23, 2024
Ardmore
Gale Christine Hockersmith-Martin Vaughn went peacefully to be with her Lord on May 23, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Always known as Christine to friends and family, with a quick side-eye to whoever slipped and used Gale, Christene was born September 27, 1945, in Southern Oklahoma. She grew up mostly in the Ardmore area. She was sister to Carol Sue (Tuttie), Thomas, Inez, Edna Caroline, and Brenda. She met and then married the love of her life, Robert Junior Vaughn on October 14th, 1960. Their 63-year marriage produced 3 daughters that were their greatest joys: Debra, Nancy and Sandara. Early in their marriage, they moved to the Pheonix Arizona area to be around family. They then moved back to Southern Oklahoma where they put down their forever roots.
Christine worked a variety of jobs, but she found the most fulfillment with her job as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. She was the best caretaker no matter the person or patient. Christene was a devout, lifetime Christian and played many active roles in her church community. Attending Church and Sunday School was always a priority for her, she always made sure to have her grandchildren in the pews with her.
At family gatherings you would find Christine with child on her hip or a baby in her arms; family was the center of her life; nothing was more important. She enjoyed cooking, playing board games and without fail she had a western playing on the television.
Christine was preceded in death by siblings Tuttie, Thomas, Brenda, daughters Debra and Nancy and grandson Thomas Robert.
Christine is survived by her husband, Robert, daughter Sandy, sisters Inez and Edna Caroline, grandchildren Amanda, Matthew, Kristyn, Tiffani, Brittany, Zachary, Heather, Michelle and Michael. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members.
