Gary
Keith
Oct 23, 1947 — Aug 17, 2022
Gary Lynn Keith was born October 23, 1947, to Velter and Nancy Pierce Keith in Ardmore, OK. He passed from this life on August 17, 2022, at 74.
Gary was a graduate of Plainview High School in the class of 1965. On April 12, 1968, he married Sharon Turner, the love of his life. He enlisted in the United States Army in November 1966 and was stationed at Fort Briggs. From there, he was deployed to Germany for 18 months, then returned Stateside, where he was discharged in October 1970. He then went to work for Spann Chevrolet for six months as a mechanic. In March of 1971, he began employment at Uniroyal Tire Plant, where he spent 32 years in numerous departments as a supervisor. After his Michelin retirement, he worked for the Chickasaw Nation in the Maintenance department for five years.
Gary enjoyed every facet of life, from being a loving husband, devoted daddy, and mostly being a papaw. He spent numerous hours tinkering around in his shop, keeping his vehicles spotless clean and restoring the second love of his life, Maggie, a crimson red 1955 Chevrolet. While these activities kept him busy, attending sporting events and numerous activities for his kids, grandkids, nieces, and nephews were most important, and he cherished each game he attended. He loved to hunt and fish, which included his favorite fishing hole at Lake Fork. Another favorite pastime was countless family game nights playing highly competitive dominos and card games.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Velter and Nancy Keith, brothers Arlen Pierce and Steve Keith, and sisters Ruth Ditto, Ann Kimbro, Janice Cottrell, and Sharon Cornelison.
He is survived by his wife of the home Sharon, daughter Stacy Keith Newman and husband Todd, son Greg Keith and wife Mindy, granddaughters Taylor Williamson and husband Drew Williamson, Rylee Keith, and grandson Garrett Keith, bonus grandchildren Ethan Newman, Addison Newman, and his "little bit" great-granddaughter Stoni Dru Williamson. Three brothers, Bud Keith and wife Linda, Tony Keith and wife Leslie, and Clint Keith and wife Lisa. Three sisters, Barbara Anderson and husband Gerald, Carolyn Brintle and husband Randy, and Marilyn Welch. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, August 20 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Ardmore, with Dr. David Daniel officiating. His Final resting place will be Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6 – 7:00 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home.
