Funeral services for Gary Dean Smith are scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00am in Mary Niblack Baptist Church with Rev. Derrick Crawford officiating.  Interment will follow in Provence Cemetery.

Gary was born August 16, 1943 to William Stanley Smith and Cora Edith (Stice) Smith in Chandler, Ok.  He passed this life on October 5, 2018 at his residence in Ardmore.

He and Nelda Dahlke were married June 2, 1962 in Cushing, Ok.   They were married for 56 years.

Gary worked in the Engineering department for OG&E and served his country in the Army National Guard. He retired from OG&E in July of 1994. Member of the Mary Niblack Baptist Church and an active volunteer at Springdale Community Center.

He is survived by his wife Nelda of the home; daughters, Janet Sanders of Wanette, Ok and her husband Robbie, Jennifer Hays and her husband Jerry of Durant, Ok: Brother, Lonnie Ray Smith and his wife Fern of Ardmore, Ok.; Sister, Betty Buttram of Tecumseh, Ok.; grandsons, Tyler Sanders of Wanette, Ok, Coleman Sanders and his wife Ashlei of Oklahoma City, Ok; granddaughters, Logan Hays and Candace Hays both of Durant, Ok; great grandson, Tobias Sanders of Oklahoma City.  Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Goldie Stidham and Ruth Stone; brother, Stanley "Ernie" Smith.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Don Scott, Glen C. Jones, Andy Munson, Earl Collins, Mike Wilson and Freddie Vinson.

Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Sanders, Coleman Sanders, Isaac Goodin, Andrew McArthur, Robbie Sanders, Jerry Hays, Bobby Dodge, Tony Keith and Bob Mitchell.

The family would like to thank Cross Timbers Hospice and Ideal Home Care for their special attention during a very difficult time.
