Genice (Gary) Clark Ennen was born March 23, 1920, on a farm in Marshall County, Oklahoma to Joe "Frank" and Esther (Harper) Gary. She departed this life on June 13, 2021, at the age of 101 years, 2 months and 21 days. Genice graduated from Madill High School in 1938 and attended Murray State College one year before transferring to Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she earned bachelor's and master's Degrees. She spent 40 years in the classroom, teaching third grade for 26 years in the Madill school system and 14 years teaching second grade in the Durant school system at Washington Irving Elementary before retiring in 1982.
She was a longtime member of the Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Retired Teachers Association as well as the First Baptist Church of Durant. Genice married George Clark in 1942. They owned and operated Clark's Home Furnishings in Madill and Durant, and after 33 years of marriage, the marriage was dissolved in 1975. In February 1983, Genice and Virgil "Mike" Ennen, a Rural Mail Carrier from Greenfield, Oklahoma, were married and made their home in Durant, Oklahoma. In June 2014, Genice and Mike moved to an Assisted Living Facility in Mustang, Oklahoma and after 31 years of marriage Mike passed away in September 2014. Genice continued in the Assisted Living Facility until 2016 when she transferred to a Long Term Care facility in Gainesville, Texas where she resided until her death.
Genice was preceded in death by her parents, brothers W. H. "Dub" Gary and Donald Gary, sisters Geneva Miller, Joan Trochesset and Joyce Davidson, nephews Keith Gary and Darell Gary, and niece Susan Havran.
Genice was survived by two Step-sons Bryan Ennen and wife, Patty and David Ennen and wife, Alta; three grandchildren, Kara Ennen Harris, Kelly Ennen and Matthew Ennen; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Elsie Graugnard, Jerry Tollett, and Jeanette Shukanes and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Watonga IOOF Cemetery, Watonga, Oklahoma on June 19, 2021 at 11:30 am where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Virgil "Mike" Ennen.
