James "Jim" Sullivan Harrell was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend. On May 13 ^th , 2021, Jim left this world surrounded by his family at the age of 82. Jim was born and raised in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He lettered in football at Ardmore High School and upon graduation in 1956 had already received the esteemed honor of being an Eagle Scout.  Jim went on to play football at the University of Tulsa, became a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and the National Guard at the University of Oklahoma, and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration at Southeastern State College.

Jim started his lengthy career in the Oil and Gas industry as a Landman for Amerada Petroleum in Williston, North Dakota. He loved the people of Williston and how the Northern Lights allowed him to play golf until midnight. Jim would later go out on his own, starting his own company and tirelessly working throughout Campbell and Converse counties in Wyoming. A short trip through many local courthouses would uncover a great many leases taken by Harrell and Bradshaw, as they were steps ahead of the competition in many of the current producing plays in the Powder River Basin.

Jim's love for his family and friends was unparalleled, and he warmly welcomed all into his life. Just like a true Okie, Jim never met a man he didn't like. He had the best of both worlds: spending quality time in his adopted home of Denver while always having a special place in his heart for Ardmore. Jim was the best husband to Barbara, the greatest dad to Jimmy and Courtney, gave his unconditional love as Papa to his two grandchildren, J.T. & Jonathan, and was the "Favorite Uncle" of the Loughridge family.  His honest smile and patient wit were well known and appreciated by all. Jim was a longtime member of Cherry Hills Country Club, in Denver, where he enjoyed golf, gin-rummy, Dewars scotch and weekend breakfasts with his 'Romeo' friends (aka retired old men eating out). He loved to entertain and grill, and his annual Southern Oklahoma-style Thanksgiving turkey and dressing will be remembered with reverence.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Harrell; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Apolonia Harrell; his daughter, Courtney Anne Harrell; and his grandchildren, James Thomas and Jonathan Harrell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Faye Harrell, and his sister, Linda Loughridge.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Ardmore with Father Mike Stephenson officiating.The service will be livestreamed at the following link https://stphilipsardmore.org/streaming-worship.html Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery and a reception will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Dornick Hills Country Club. A Celebration of Life ceremony is also being planned in Denver later this summer. The family will host a visitation, Tuesday evening, May 25, 2021 from 5pm - 6pm at the funeral home.
