Funeral services for James William "Buddy" Fair will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 7, 2023, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Nathan Gauwitz officiating. Burial will follow at the Provence Cemetery with John Dobson, Richard Cresswell, Curtis Moore, Ronnie Coffman, John Marshall, and Sam Atkinson serving as pallbearers.

Buddy was born in Maysville, Garvin County, Oklahoma on September 7, 1932, to Ardath D. and Gussie A. Summers Fair and died April 1, 2023, in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 5 months and 25 days.

Buddy was a man of great faith and was affiliated with the New Hope Church of God. He served in the United States Army, obtaining the rank of Sergeant, entering on February 9, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was Honorably discharged on February 8, 1955, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and transferred into the Texas District of the Army Reserve. During his time of service, he was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Germany) and the National Defense Service Medal. Prior to joining the military, he worked as a baker at the Dutch Oven Baking Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He lived in Grand Prairie, Texas for several years and retired from Aviall Aviation, after 30 years, where he worked in Quality Control. He married Letha May Blevins on January 16, 1984, in Carter County, Oklahoma. He and Letha permanently moved back to Oklahoma in 1999. Buddy was immensely proud of his membership in the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a 32 ^nd Degree Mason. The family extends a special thanks to the Staff of Woodview Nursing for the love and care during his stay there.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maxine Martin; brother, George Fair; sons, Carroll Douglas James, and Edward Gene Finley. He is survived by his wife Letha of Ardmore, Oklahoma; daughters, Cynthia Clonts and her husband Billy of Grand Prairie, Texas, Suzy Hartsell of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Patricia Graham of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sister Jewell Crum of Wichita Falls, Texas; 7 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, especially Paula Cresswell and her husband Richard of Wichita Falls, Texas.
