Obituary

Funeral services for Janice Diane "Jan" (Kelly) Hasty will be held at 2:00 pm Friday October 18, 2024, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Austin Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Newport Cemetery in Lone Grove with Frankie Williams, Ron Hawkins, Mike Goodson, Rusty Williams, Reid Featherston and Austin Hawkins serving as pallbearers.

Jan was born on Wednesday November 30, 1949, in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Arthur and Amanda (Farris) Kelly. She passed away at the family home in Lone Grove on Sunday October 13, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted W. Hasty on October 2, 2020, and grandson Chase (C.J.) Featherston on July 17, 2005.

Jan worked briefly as an assistant in a retail shop prior to her marriage to Ted Ward Hasty on December 16, 1971, In Las Vegas, Nevada. Jan and Ted lived in southern California prior to moving their family to Lone Grove, Oklahoma in 1979.

Jan operated a day care home for over twenty years. Many of these children grew to become like her own children and to this day are still viewed as members of her family. After her own children were grown Jan returned to school and earned a bachelor's degree in nursing science. She worked as registered nurse for the Oklahoma veteran's hospital in Ardmore, OK and as a home health care nurse for many years before her retirement. Jan volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate or CASA in Carter County. She often traveled far across the state to visit and advocate for abused or neglected children. Jan spent her life providing for children and serving others.

Jan enjoyed her family, pets, cooking, and gardening. She leaves her family many cherished memories of family dinners and days in the garden together. She also managed to adopt a few pets over the years that somehow ended up in her children's homes.

Jan is survived by her three children, Cheryl Williams and her husband Frankie of Healdton, Oklahoma, Ted A. Hasty of Sitka, Alaska and Jeanie Kessler of Lone Grove, Oklahoma. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Eva Dauer of Weismain, Germany and Jenna, Jordan, and Kaylee Kessler of Lone Grove. Jan was gifted with four great grandchildren, Reid, Gracie, Emilia and Emil; one great-great grandson, Chase Justin Featherston.
