Funeral services for Delma Jean "Jeanie" Jones nee Shaffer, 91, will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Robert Peterson officiating. Graveside service will immediately follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Jeanie was the oldest of eight (8) children born to Jess E. Shaffer and Beadie Marie (Alexander) Shaffer, born on June 27, 1931, in Thackerville, Oklahoma. She passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 2, 2022. She died peacefully at Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta, Oklahoma. Jeanie had recently moved from The Lodge at Ardmore Village.
Jeanie and Val Gene became members at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church upon moving to Ardmore in the early 1950's. Later they were members of Northwest Assembly. They became builders and founding members of CrystalRock Cathedral.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and infant twin daughters; a sister Eunice Shaffer; and six brothers: Winston J., Weldon E., Glen W., Edgar L., Elridge E., and Elmer D. Shaffer. Jeanie is survived by two sons, Ron Jones and wife Cheryl of Fort Worth, Texas and Rick Jones of Ontario, Canada; grandchildren Gene Christopher Jones and wife Allison of Davidson, North Carolina, Cassie Jones Crochet and husband Joshua of Denver, Colorado, and Jason K. Sutterfield and wife Sarah of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and great-grandchildren Clara Louise Sutterfield, Jude Kristopher Sutterfield, Ella Grace Jones, Arthur Ryan Jones, and Heidi Ann Sutterfield.
Jeanie is also survived by her sisters-in-law Joyce (Justus) Shaffer, Joann (Tate) Shaffer, and Beverly (Hudson) Shaffer. Also, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, including her long-time friends Joyce Nutter and Norma West.
Pallbearers are G. Christopher Jones, Jason K. Sutterfield, Joshua Crochet, Dr. Jack F. Holmes, Tommy Tucker, and Curtis Moore. Honorary Pallbearers are Norma West, Joyce Nutter, Cheryl Sutterfield-Jones, Ronnie Burns, Ortrey Hawley, Gary Keeton, Jimmy Brock, Randy McFarlin, and Randy Doyal.
Jeanie married the love of her life, Val Gene Jones, on October 27, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas. She was a model wife, exemplary mother and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. MiMi loved her family and was a steadfast friend. Jeanie gave her all to her friends and her family. She was active in the community, mission-work, youth ministry, and worked as a seamstress. Jeanie loved baking and cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and camping with friends and riding motorcycles across the country with Val Gene, Norma and Sam West.
