Jerry Dale Martin was born October 8, 1932, in Healdton Oklahoma. His parents were Lemuel Martin and Ida Beatrice (Testerman) Martin.
Jerry attended school in Pernell and Healdton. He graduated from Healdton High in 1951. He worked at the Thompson movie theater and at the ice dock in Healdton.
In March 1953, he was called into the Army. He took his basic training in El Paso, TX and then was sent to Korea until March 16, 1955. After returning from the service, Jerry went to college at East Central University in Ada. He graduated in 1958 with a degree in accounting and went to work for United Finance in Ardmore.
On June 24, 1961, he married Mary Ruth Adams. They lived in Lawton, Okmulgee and finally moved to Ardmore. Mary and Jerry had two daughters, Vicki Ruth and Katherine Sue.
Jerry worked for First Southwest Corporation in Ardmore and assisted with the opening of Lincoln Bank. He worked for Jett Enterprise and for Beetle Plastics. He retired from Beetle Plastics after 29 years as their accountant. Since retirement Jerry enjoyed woodworking, time with family and fishing trips with friends.
Jerry was survived by his wife Mary of the home, Vicki and Rick Hahn of Keller Texas, Kathy O'Dell and Corkey Celcer of Tulsa and three grandchildren, Christopher and Tenaj O'Dell, Zachary and Meghan Buchholz and Danielle Bookelaar. He was also survived by four great granddaughters.
Proceeded in death by his parents Lemuel Martin and Ida Beatrice Testerman Martin, siblings Juanita Gahagan, Essie Bloomer, Lessie Teese Bloomer, Wanda Gilger and L.T. Martin.
Funeral Services will be Friday, February 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Ardmore. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton, OK.
Pallbearers for the service are Robert Adams, Robert Cartmell, Rick Hahn, Zachary Buchholz, Danielle Bookelaar and Ron Deyalsingh and honorary pallbearer Kevin O'Dell.
