John D.
Becker, Md
Apr 14, 1942 — Jan 31, 2025
John Donald Becker, MD, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, a long-standing, board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist, passed on to the next life on Friday, January 31, 2025.
John was born at the Germantown Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 14, 1942. He loved life and had an amazing assortment of experiences.
After graduating from high school, John attended Drexel Institute of Technology in Philadelphia and held a variety of jobs. He became a factory-trained motorcycle mechanic and worked part-time as an elevator mechanic's helper. Though skilled in many things, John still wasn't sure what he wanted to do with his life. So, he asked to have his draft number pushed up.
The Army sent John to Fort Bragg in North Carolina. While there, he was picked to serve as a Special Forces Green Beret. Only three of every one hundred receive this honor. It was while serving in the Army that John trained as a medic and found his calling.
John finished his undergraduate degree at Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, West Virginia, and was accepted immediately into Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. After receiving his medical degree, he went on to intern, have a lengthy residency, and pass multiple national and state written and oral exams.
John loved his career and the difference he could make. He knew what his capabilities and training were, and he always put the patient first. He delivered over 6,000 babies, and he loved every minute of it.
John had a delightful sense of humor that many remember.
