Johnnie Bradley Burchett was born April 21, 1931, to Willie Mae (Page) and John Jesse Burchett in Nida, Oklahoma.  He passed from this life on November 21, 2023, at the age of 92.

Johnnie was a graduate of Nida High School in the class of 1949 where he excelled in basketball.  On December 21, 1951, he and Mary Christene "Chris" Kent were married in Durant, Oklahoma.

Over the years Johnnie had fulfilling careers with Mead's Bread Company and Frito-Lay. He retired from Frito-Lay with 21 years and seven months of service. Johnnie and Chris made their home in Ardmore, where they raised their daughters, Latricia, Anita, Johnna, and Christi.

They are members of First Baptist Church of Ardmore, where Johnnie and Chris were both active.  Johnnie served as a deacon; was on the baptismal committee, a member of the sanctuary choir and charter member of the Keenage choir.

Believing his land was a gift from God, Johnnie enjoyed gardening and the work it took to produce the best harvest.  He did his part and left the rest to God.  He and Chris enjoyed canning and freezing the fruits of their labor.  Another daily joy every morning, was watching the birds outside their breakfast table window.

Other interests included travel, and spending time with friends and family. The seeds of love they planted when they married almost 72 years ago, will continue to blossom in their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, John and Willie Mae Burchett; brother Curtis; sisters Loraine and Mattie; and infant daughter Annette Joan. He is survived by his wife Chris of 71 years; daughters Latricia Miller of San Antonio, Texas; Anita Chaney of Saginaw, Texas; Johnna Cathey and husband Craig of Verdigris, Oklahoma; and Christi Smith and husband Ron of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren Erin Hamilton and husband Cory; Kyle Chaney and wife Jaime; Rick Miller and wife Brittani; Jared Cathey and Hilary Carden; Collin Smith and wife Fiona; Caitlin Bundy and husband Dylan; and great grandchildren Lyla, Emery, Adelynn, Bryson, Jocelyn, Cainan and Cali.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, November 27th at 1:00 p.m. at the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. at Craddock Funeral Home. Johnnie's Sunday School class members will serve as honorary pallbearers.
