Obituary

Funeral services for Joyce Laverne Woodley are scheduled for Saturday, November 8th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Pastors Jonathan Yandell and Bryce Hargis officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Joyce (Burns) Woodley was born on October 20, 1935, to Ella Irene Howard and Gilbert Burns in Ardmore, OK. She passed from this life on November 4, 2025, at the age of 90.

Joyce was the salutatorian of the Plainview High School class of 1953. She married Wayman Woodley, the love of her life, on May 16, 1953, in Ardmore, OK. They raised two boys, Randall and Mark. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed cooking delicious meals and decorating her home with beauty and warmth. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life. She cherished her time with them and made each one feel special and deeply loved.

Joyce accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and served the Lord all her life. Church was important to her, and she was delighted to be a part of Summit Church. The wonder of God's creation fascinated her: gazing at the moon and trees and watching clouds float by while lying on the mountain. Her appreciation for beauty shone through her lovely sense of fashion. She was an encourager with a kind and gentle spirit who led her family by example. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She spent her life in the simple, beautiful rhythm of caring for those she loved. She will be dearly missed, but we celebrate knowing she is full of joy in the presence of Jesus.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Irene Burns; her husband, Wayman Woodley; and her brother, Gilbert Norris Burns.

She is survived by her sons Randall Woodley and his wife Carrie and Mark Woodley and his wife Sharon; brother Ronnie Burns and his wife Mary; grandchildren Mandi Cox and her husband Todd, Angela Yandell and her husband Jonathan, Megan Hargis and her husband Bryce, and Teegan Woodley; great-grandchildren Brycen Cox and his wife Elizabeth, Kylie Cox, Roman Yandell, Boston Hargis, Eva Jane Yandell, London Hargis, Baker Hargis, Luke Yandell, and Banks Hargis; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Randall Woodley, Mark Woodley, Brycen Cox, Mandi Cox, Todd Cox, and Teegan Woodley will serve as pallbearers.
