A memorial service for Juanita L. Shawbell is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Craddock Memorial Chapel with friends and family memorializing her.
Juanita L. Shawbell was born April 11, 1927 in Hopkins County Texas to Edgar and Golden Juanita (Steen) Woods. She passed this life on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her home in Ardmore.
She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School and from Business College in Galveston, TX, where she received a degree in Secretary of Business and Office Management. She worked as an Executive Secretary for Halliburton until her retirement.
She and Lewis T. (Blackie) Shawbell, the love of her life, met in Dallas and were married in 1954. They later moved to Duncan, Oklahoma where they were both employed by Halliburton Oilfield Services.
Sue loved to travel internationally, vacation with her God Children, attend community events and enjoy time with her family and beloved Yorkie, Farrah.
She was a member of St. Philips Episcopal Church, Woman of the Church, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Desk and Derrick Club, ECW, Bridge Club and the YWCA.
She is survived by her God Children, Mackenzie Faith Hartman and Shane David Hartman; nieces, Mary Lou Hoover and her husband David, Lori Evans and Patti Cox; Sister in law, Linell Woods; Cousin Rowlena Hartman, her husband David of Marietta and cousin-in-law, Joe Duncan of Connerville, Oklahoma as well as many friends near and far.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Blackie, brothers, Freddy Woods and Octave Woods, sister, Meladine McCool, nephew, Don McCool and dear cousin, Bennie Duncan.
Memorials may be left to the Texoma Autism and Behavior Intervention School, 7485 Sunshine Lane, Marietta, Ok. 73448.
