From a young age, Kristin knew she wanted to help others and set her sights on becoming an occupational therapist while still in high school. After graduating from Plainview High School in 2006, she went on to East Central University and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where she earned a degree in Science Health Studies. She went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center with a Master of Occupational Therapy. Her work included inpatients and recently home health care.

During high school and college, she worked at American Nation Bank for over six years.

Kristin was a devoted wife and mother and cared deeply for her family. She married her high school sweetheart in January 2010, and the couple welcomed two children, sons Warren and Reid. She wanted to help develop her boys' talents and signed them up for voice and piano lessons, sports and many other activities. She served on the board of Broadway Kids. She also wanted to ensure they received the best education possible, and was a member of the Plainview School Board.

She was an active member of First Methodist Church and member of the Connect Group Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed attending a local book and Bunco club.
