Memorial service for Laura Jean Hillman will be held at 3:00pm Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Hollon officiating.

Join us in celebrating Laura Moore Morrison Hillman and her extraordinary life! In our family, normal was considered dull, so as the family matriarch, she taught us to color outside the lines! And speaking of colors, her favorite was leopard, Christmas was her own love language, and if Laura didn't call to sing you Happy Birthday, well you just couldn't be getting older! Other passions included dancing, karaoke, fast red cars/pickups, spending time with her bubba (Rex), picking out plants with Mindy, Lisa, and Carole, listening to Barbra and Michael Greg spinning tales, looking at thousands of photos Kathy insisted on taking, laughing at Cooper's funny antics, and the precious memories created with the most priceless commodity of all, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews! Simple pleasures and Family were indeed her greatest source of joy.

Laura was born on October 18 th , 1945, in Odessa, TX to parents Betty Potts-Baxter and Leroy Baxter. She was the most photogenic baby of all her 4 siblings, who arrived in 3 years increments thereafter, except for the youngest oops! Laura followed an unconventional timeline, always circling back to what was most important, her family. Those who will continue to share her stories and memories include her children, Lisa Morrison-Holley and husband, Randal; Michael Morrison, Melinda Hillman-Keith and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Paige Rameriz and husband, Isaac; Jerred Morrison and Mikaylan; Pryce Holley and wife, Destiny; Sarah Morrison; Rylee and Garrett Keith; great-grandchildren, Jase and Emi Rameriz; Lex and Ali Holley; brother, Rex Eugene Moore; sisters, Carole Lindsay, Barbra Halstead and husband, John; Kathy Manning and husband, Michael; nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Julie, Ashton, Cyndy, Lindsay, Elyse, Joshua, Aaron, Jessica, Beth, and special cousins, Danny, Darlene and Sabrina. Laura had a variety of careers including managing the Tulsa Hilton Inn, working at Bell Telephone, and Owner of "Good Time Charlie's" in Ardmore. She found her true calling though by following in her mother's footsteps and graduating as a Registered Nurse from Murray State College. Her legacy continues through the lives of the individuals she cared for as a Nurse at Pauls Valley State School for 20 years. Laura would want to share that she did not achieve her nursing degree until she was in her mid-40s! She quit 3 jobs and went back to school. She began with obtaining her GED then on to Nursing School, she was full of confident self-doubt, but she prayed and persevered. Proving to doubters this was not a mid-life crisis...It is never too late to BE who you were always meant to BE.

Laura's soul felt most at home on the family's 5 acres, where her great-grandparents, grandmother and mother lived, as well as her siblings and children, during their adolescent years. She recently became a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation, due to the heritage of her maternal grandfather, Carl Potts. Family, Laura has now reunited with include Charlie McCarty, her partner for 31 years, who kept her lovingly frustrated but mainly amused; mother, Betty Jean Sanders, RN; loving father who raised her, Rex Cullen Moore; grandmother, Evelyn "Mama Evie" Potts; great-grandmother, Louretta Bynum, and great aunt, Lillian Everett.

Laura always believed in God and heaven. When she realized mortality was inescapable, she chose to remain her independent self as best she could while blazing the trail for family to follow. Those who know her best can imagine her singing in her loudest heavenly voice and making the clouds jump with her fancy footwork! Laura Jean you will forever be in our hearts!
