Funeral services for Leo V. Chaney will be at 10:00 am Saturday November 18, 2023, in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating. Burial will follow at the Lone Grove Cemetery with Jason Chaney, Shane Porter, Cory Miller, Travis Miller, Mitchel Chaney, and Walt Mills serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ian Porter, Zander Porter, Ryder Mills, Caloway Miller, and Mac Chaney. Visitation will be Friday evening November 17, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Craddock Funeral Home.
Leo was born Saturday February 28, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Theodore V. and Verna (Cummings) Chaney and died Sunday November 12, 2023, in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 15 days. He met Betty June Wilbanks at church in California and their first date was the first Billy Graham Crusade in Los Angeles, California under the big top. They married March 11, 1950, in Yuma, Arizona and enjoyed 65 years of marriage until her passing October 21, 2015. He was retired from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, an accomplished musician and owned many businesses. In 1972 he returned to the Ardmore area where he had many family connections and opened the local Yamaha Motorcycle Dealership. In 1974 he added the Honda motorcycle line. His son Dennis and son-in-law Robin had joined him in the business early on and they worked together until they sold the business in 2018.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty; granddaughters, Heather Denise Chaney, and Lilly Grace Chaney; daughter-in-law, Kay Chaney; siblings, Betty Speer, Vida Reis, Dale Chaney, and Dean Chaney; special friends, Dr. James Turrentine, Robert McCrory, and Will Wilburn. He is survived by his children, Alan Chaney, Kathleen Porter and her husband Robin, Charleen Green and her husband Richard, Dennis Chaney and his wife LaDonna; grandchildren, Tanya Chaney Young & Jake, Jason Chaney & Mandy, Shane Porter & Martha, Cory Miller & Lindsey, Summer Mills & Walt, Travis Miller & Louanna, Marissa Chaney, Amber Chaney, Mitchel Chaney;; great grandchildren, Waylon Jackson, Ian and Zander Porter, Rainey Miller, River, Sailor, Ryder Mills, Caloway and Lillian Miller, Joslyn and Mac Chaney, and Abbie Chaney; the Green great grandchildren, Madison, Jonathan, Abbigail, Sarah, Louie and the Green great great grandchild, Atticus; special friend, Austin Foraker.
