Frederick Lovell McMillin, lawyer, banker and beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully October 30, 2024, in Oklahoma City. He was born on July 25, 1936, in Ada to Anna Ruth McMillin and John Frederick McMillin. Lovell graduated from Classen High School in 1954 and earned a BBA in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma in 1958, where he served as President of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Working as a lifeguard after his sophomore year of college, on the first day of summer Lovell met the love of his life, Ann Synos, who would become his wife of 64 years.

While attending law school at OU, Lovell and a classmate, Max Berry, owned and ran the most popular restaurant on Campus Corner at 315 White Street.  The '315' was a beatnik joint that hung local art and stayed open until 3:15am. He later said, "I never worked as hard in my life as I did that year."

Lovell and Ann married in December 1959, shortly before Lovell graduated from OU law school. He began his legal career at Fischl and Culp in Ardmore, where he practiced for 43 years. Lovell held leadership roles, including President of the Oklahoma Association of Defense Council and chairman of the Oklahoma Board of Bar Examiners. He was recognized as one of three Outstanding Young Oklahomans. Beyond law, Lovell served on the Board of Directors for the First National Bank of Ardmore, including as chairman of the board for over 18 years. He called his service to the bank "one of the greatest joys of my life." He also served as Ardmore City Commissioner and chaired the board of the Mercy Health Foundation.

An avid fisherman, Lovell humorously named his boat "The Courthouse" and he told his assistant if a client called to tell them he was "at the courthouse." He really enjoyed his regular poker group with friends. Every Thanksgiving, he had a fish fry for the family followed by the annual poker tournament. He and Ann also cherished playing bridge with their circle of friends.

Left to cherish Lovell's memory are his wife, Ann, daughter Kellie Merrick (Robert), sons Mike McMillin (Mary) and Ted McMillin (Amy), as well as eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ardmore on November 9 at 10:00 am. Pall Bearers will be William C. Chapman, Tom Brandt, Luann Walker, Curtis Davidson, Clayton Lodes, and Jacob Charnock. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lacy Mullen scholarship fund at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
