Funeral services for (Mary) Lynda Arnold Ayres of Ardmore, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 pm Monday April 15, 2024, in the Craddock Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Reverend Ron Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ardmore with Lynda's sons Mike and Jason and her grandsons Shane, Brandon, Jacob, and Jaylen serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Craddock Funeral Home.
Lynda was born Friday September 23, 1938, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Cecil E. and Gladys H. (Zellner) Arnold and departed this life Tuesday April 9, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years, 6 months and 17 days.
Lynda was raised in Springer, Oklahoma where her family ran a grocery store for all her school years. She graduated from Springer High School Valedictorian in 1956 and furthered her secretarial skills at Capital Secretarial School in Oklahoma City. After graduating she worked for Mobil Oil in Ardmore, Denver, and Dallas as a secretary for a real estate developer, and Texas Instruments. She married Thomas Ray Ayres on November 2, 1962, at Lovers Lane Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas and he preceded her in death on December 19, 2016, after 54 years of marriage. She enjoyed meeting people and serving the public, spending time with her children and grandchildren and was active in her church. When she and Tom moved back to Ardmore, she worked with her husband at AAA Services later Air-Comfort, and Home Solutions as a kitchen & bath designer having many locations in Ardmore, Lone Grove, and Kingston. After the businesses closed, she then went to design for Lowes in Ardmore, and Home Depot when they lived in Flower Mound, Texas. After the death of her husband, she moved to the Ardmore Village where she was active in many activities, playing Canasta, spending time visiting, and watching movies with her friends.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her daughter-in-law Stacey Ayres on January 5, 2023, brother Andy Arnold and sister Donna Elmore. She is survived by her children; Michael Ayres, Donna Taylor and her husband Marty, and Jason Ayres and his wife Angel, grandchildren; Shane, Brandon, Jacob, Ashley, Jaylen, Brittani, and Amanda, great grandchildren; Peyton, Heidi, Jayden, Cortez, Brodie, Leighton, and one on the way!
The family has requested that memorial contributions in honor of Lynda Ayres be made to the Sanctuary of Hope, JHM Ministries, PO Box 1400, San Antonio, Texas 78295, or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate (800) 478-5833.
