Matthew Dwayne
Tanner
Sep 22, 1996 — Feb 16, 2026
Mathew Dwayne Tanner was born September 22, 1996, to Ted Tanner and Jeannette Mills Tanner in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on February 16, 2026, in Ardmore, Oklahoma at the young age of 29.
Mathew's toddler years were spent with his Mom and Dad in Norman, Oklahoma. His elementary and middle school years were shared with his grandparents in Ardmore and with his mom in the beachside town of Rockport, Texas. Even as a child, he didn't know a stranger and loved to make people laugh. His family channeled his abundance of energy into activities - swimming, baseball, basketball, and football. He was baptized at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Mathew graduated from Ardmore High School in 2015. He met TaShena Washburn during his senior year, and they became best friends, sharing the rest of his life together. They built a beautiful life, raising three children and building a large circle of friends. Hard work and commitment to family were driving forces in Mathew's life. He wanted to buy his first car without help from others, so he went to work as a dishwasher at Interurban Restaurant at age 14 and worked continuously through high school to achieve that goal. After high school, he took on many jobs, including work at Michelin, Dollar General, and East Jordan Iron Works. In 2022, he started a lawn care business. Mathew became the proud father of Maxston Dwayne Tanner on March 9, 2022. Committed to providing for his growing family, he worked hard to grow his business while working other jobs.
Those who knew Mathew best would say his biggest gift to this world was his abundance of kindness, compassion, and joy. He treated those around him like family. He was loyal and generous. He loved being a father and was so proud of his children, Isabella, A'miyah and Maxston. His loud, fun-loving personality lit up the room. He enjoyed collecting sports cards. Most of all, he loved being surrounded by family and friends and providing for his family. Mathew was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannette Tanner, and is survived by his wife, TaShena Washburn, children, Isabella Rodriguez, A'Miyah Washburn and Maxston Tanner, father, Ted Tanner, grandparents, John and Martha Stolfa of Oklahoma City and Robert Mills and Cindy Tompkins of Durant, Oklahoma.
