Services for Ray Lee Coffey will be Friday, August 24, 2018 11:00 AM in the Craddock Memorial Chapel with Larry Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, OK. A visitation for family and friends will be Thursday evening from 6-7 PM at the funeral home. Ray was born November 3, 1938 in Ravia, OK to Ray Coffey and Lucille (Swain) Coffey. He went to be with our Lord in Heaven on August 21, 2018 surrounded by family at the age of 79.
Ray graduated from Dickson High School in 1957. He attended Murray State College and then entered the U.S. Army, serving in France and Germany. After returning from the Army, Ray and Minnie Keeler were married on December 28, 1962 in Gainesville, TX.
Ray started work for Shell Oil Company with the seismograph crew. The job took them to Colorado, Arkansas and Michigan. Upon returning to Ardmore, he went to work at the Datsun Dealership as Service Manager. After working with his dad for a short time he then opened his own business called "Ray Coffey Auto Repair" which he ran for 12 years. He then went to work for Uniroyal/ Michelin until his retirement in 2001 after 23 years of service.
Ray enjoyed fishing, golf and hunting. He loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie of the home; daughters, Tammy Coffey Davis of Raeford, NC, Debra Coffey-Hunter of Yukon, OK; sister, Barbara Ellis of Ardmore; grandchildren, Ashley McGee of Ardmore, Amber Leitch of El Paso, TX., Brandon Hixon of Columbia, SC, Erica Davis of Ft. Bragg, NC, Hannah Davis of Ft. Bragg, NC, Sarah Davis of Galion, Ohio, Derek Hunter of Oklahoma City, OK,; 15 great grandchildren and numerous cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Charles Coffey, Bernie Kite, Stacy Kite, Gary Kite and Zachary Harris. Honorary bearers will be Chet Vinson, Johnny Jackson, Gerald Scarberry, J.J. Hornbeck, Ricky Roberts and Rick Gregory.
