Rice "David" Reavis

Mass of Christian burial for Rice “David” Reavis will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Kevin Ratterman officiating. There will be a reception following the Mass in the Parish Hall and a Committal Service at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be at Craddock Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM. David was born Friday, February 1, 1935, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Rice Maynard and Harriett (Houghlin) Reavis, and died on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at his home in Ardmore at the age of 91.

David attended Ardmore Public Schools and worked at the soda fountain at Reavis Drug during high school. He graduated from Ardmore High School with the Class of 1953. He then attended the University of Oklahoma and there he pledged Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated from the OU Pharmacy School in 1958. Following college David served in the United States Army in New Orleans and Florida as a Movement Specialist and Marksman. After his military service he worked at Skillerns Drug Store in Dallas until returning home in 1962 to work alongside his father and brother at Reavis Drug in downtown Ardmore. On Saturday, May 1, 1965, he married Mary Elizabeth McClure, also from Ardmore, at St. Vincent de Paul Church in San Francisco. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

In 1966 David opened his own pharmacy near Memorial Hospital (now Mercy Hospital) and in 1974 he and Mary Elizabeth partnered with Bob and Ann Kerr to open Kerr & Reavis Drug and Gifts. He devoted many years of his life to serving others as a pharmacist, as well as his involvement with several community organizations. He remained with Kerr-Reavis as a pharmacist until his retirement in 2011.

Throughout his life David enjoyed the outdoors. In his youth he loved duck hunting and camping, and he was an avid fisherman his entire life. He took great joy in teaching all of his children and grandchildren how to fish. David is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Reavis; and sister-in-law, Peggy Smithwick Reavis. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Reavis of Ardmore, Oklahoma; daughters, Kelly Amen and her husband Todd of Evergreen, Colorado, Lauren Robbins and her husband Paul of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; brother, Rice M. Reavis of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Brooke Amen, Noah Amen and his wife Haley (who are due with his first great grandchild in September), Hunter Amen, Tanner Amen, Seth Robbins, and Blake Robbins. Also, his beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
