Funeral services for Rick Smith will be held at the Craddock Memorial Chapel in Ardmore, Oklahoma on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 1:00. Don Ray Thomason will officiate.

He will be laid to rest at the Rose Hill Cemetery, alongside his mother, father, and brother.

Rick was born July 28, 1956, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Robert Harold Smith and Dorothy Ann Marsh Smith. He went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2026, in Austin, Texas at the age of 70.

He met his future wife, Juanita Brown, in Altus, Oklahoma. Both of their fathers were in the Air Force and were stationed in Altus. The two were married in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, on January 3, 1976, and celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Rick joined the Air Force and was stationed in Sumter, South Carolina. After the two were married the couple moved to Sumter.

After his time in the Air Force concluded, they moved to Austin, TX, where Rick became a skilled jack-of-all-trades as a handyman, craftsman, copier technician, business owner and eventually returned to government service in the TSA.

Rick had a lifelong love for music and was a talented drummer who enjoyed performing with a local Austin band.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Smith and his brother, Russell Smith.

Rick is survived by his wife, his daughter, Erika Czarnocki and her husband, Brandon of Round Rock, Texas, son, Jason and his wife, Tea Kerr, of Allen, Oklahoma, his sisters, Lisa and Lauren Harrell and her husband Brian of Ardmore; and grandchildren, Nico and Plynn of Allen.

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to the COPD Foundation.
