Robert
Bramlett
Aug 14, 1952 — Dec 29, 2023
Robert "Bobby" Marshall Bramlett, Jr. was born August 14, 1952, to Robert Marshall Bramlett, Sr. and Mary Jane Bramlett. He passed from this life on December 29, 2023, at the age of 71.
Bobby was a graduate of St John's Northwestern Military Academy in Delafield, Wisconsin. Upon graduation he attended Eastern Oklahoma State College to play baseball for 2 years. He next played for the University of Oklahoma and fell in love with Softball and Nanette Potts. Bob first met Nanette as a teenager at Chandler Baseball Camp, where her brother was a camper. They stayed connected, seeing each other when Bobby visited his grandmother in Okmulgee, but eventually lost touch, until Bob attended OU.
On August 4, 1973, he married Susan "Nanette" Potts in Okmulgee, OK. After graduation from OU, with a bachelor's degree in business, Bobby and Nanette moved to Ardmore where their only child Jake was born. Bobby went to work selling insurance and real estate for his parents at the Bramlett Agency. Nanette handled the salary negotiation and drove a hard bargain, which was unlike her, she never discussed finances. Bobby later bought the Bramlett Agency from his parents and closed the real estate portion of the business.
Rudy White, of Rudy White Insurance in Ardmore took him to his first Oklahoma Independent Insurance Association "Big I" event. From that point he became involved in Young Agents and then served as president of Oklahoma Independent Insurance Association twice. His first Young Agents Conference was at Lake Eufaula. Many of his dearest friends were met at Oklahoma Young Agent/Big I events.
Under Bob's pioneering leadership, the Bramlett Agency experienced explosive growth and became 50% property and casualty and 50% employee benefits. This was uncommon in the industry. He forged long term relationships with insurance company partners and served on many Agents Councils.
Philanthropy and volunteerism were very important to Bobby. He served on many boards in the community, including The Maxwell, Big I National Championship, Arbuckle Life Solutions, The Glen Foundation, Merrick Foundation, Ardmore Development Authority and Ardmore Regional Park, and First National Bank of Ardmore. The Maxwell was a college golf tournament which both Bobby and Nannette Chaired for several years.
On December 9th, 2008, his only grandchild, Bryce, was born. Bryce was the apple of Bob's eye. If you ran into him in town, he always shared Bryce stories with all. When Bryce took up the game of golf a few years ago and recently made the high school varsity team, it really was a proud moment for Bobby.
In 2012, the State Directors of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America "IIABA/Big I" elected Bobby Chairman. This group is like a fraternity and he stayed close friends with many former chairmen.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Robert Marshall "Jim" Bramlett, Sr., mother, Mary Jane Bramlett, and his wife, Nanette Bramlett.
He is survived by his son, Jake Bramlett, grandson, Bryce Bramlett, brother, Richard Randall Bramlett and wife, Marie, and sister, Jane Ann Bramlett.
