A celebration of life memorial service for Robert Hightower will be Saturday, August 30, 2008, 2:30 PM at Heritage Hall in Ardmore with the Pastors and friends of the WOW Church officiating. Robert Sterling Hightower was born August 12, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Roy Bill Hightower and Dorothy Bailey Hightower. He passed from this life on August 27, 2008 at the age of 47 years and 15 days. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of the home, sons Michael Hightower of Ardmore, Aaron Hightower and his wife Logan of Durant, OK, Stephen Hightower and his wife Jimi of Ardmore and a daughter Nicci of the home, mother Dorothy Bailey Hightower of Sperry, OK, brother Darrel Hightower and wife Suzette of Tulsa, a sister Linda and husband James of Shamrock, OK, sister Beverly and husband Larry Hudson of Avant, OK, sister Barbara Hudson of Catoosa, OK, brother Roy and wife Vickie Hightower of Tulsa, brother John L. Hightower and wife Betty of Tulsa, Bill Campbell and wife Volene of Claremore, OK, brother Jerry Starks and wife Debbie of Carson City, NV. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Bill Hightower and a step-father, Jim Dean. Robert graduated from high school in Tulsa and had several graduate and post-graduate degrees. He was saved and baptized in North Lewis Baptist Church in Tulsa. He surrendered to the ministry in 1977. He married Cheryl Humble on May 23, 1981 in Tulsa. He was employed by the Creek County Sheriffs office and later as a Police Officer with the Sapulpa Police Department. During his tenure at the Police Department, he served as a ministry intern at First Baptist Church of Sapulpa under Pastor Sam Porter. Robert was called to Harvey Road Baptist Church in Seminole, OK as Pastor in the summer of 1998 after being ordained to the Gospel Ministry by First Baptist Church of Sapulpa, OK. He served there for four years during which time he served as a Reserve Officer for the Seminole Police Department and President of the local Ministerial Alliance. Robert was called to the First Baptist Church in Ardmore as the Minister of Evangelism and Missions in the summer of 2002. Robert officiated at the weddings of his son Aaron and his wife Logan and his son Stephen and his wife Jimi as well as performing numerous weddings and funerals for family and friends. In September of 2005, he planted WOW Church in Ardmore where he was Pastor. During his tenure at WOW Church, he served as Training Manager for the Ardmore Police Department. Throughout his involvement in Law Enforcement, Robert ministered in the name of Jesus and was used to affect hundreds of lives as a man who loved Christ and loved others where ever he served. In addition to his formal ministry positions, regardless of where he was Robert lived a life of ministry.
