Robert L. Petz was born December 20th, 1933 to Margaret (Klepper) and Edwin A. Petz in Ellenwood, KS. He passed from this life on September 6th, 2024 at the age of 90.
Bob was a graduate of Ellenwood High School in the class of 1951. Upon graduation he enrolled at Eldorado Junior College. In November of 1953, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Sandy Hook, New Jersey. He proudly served for 2 years, earning the rank of Corporal. After his service Bob began working for the California Oil Company was a laborer. He remained there for 5 years before joining the Middlesex Water Company where he stayed for 28 ½ years, until his retirement in 1988. In 1988 he married Wilma Jugan in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. They moved to Ardmore later that year and joined St. Mary's Catholic Church where Bob served as an usher and president of the Men's Club. Bob and Wilma also volunteered together at Mercy Hospital and Military Memorial Museum where he served as President and her Secretary.
Bob enjoyed playing cards with his nephews, John, Kenny, Carl, and Tom. He also loved bowling, volunteering, and playing pitch. His family and friends were his life. He cherished all the fond memories he had of them and the accomplishments they achieved.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Edwin Petz; first wife Geneve Petz; brothers Frank Petz, Ray Petz, Bud Petz, and Ed Petz; and sisters Lorraine Petz and Laverna Herdt.
He is survived by his wife Wilma Petz; sons Robert Petz, Jr. and his wife Bonnie and Kevin Petz and his wife Lisa; stepsons Wayne Galya, David Galya, and Andy Paloti; nephews John Herdt, Kenny Petz, Carl Petz, Tom Petz, and Merle Petz; nieces Sherry Whitener, Karen Harris, Carmen Flax, Melba Detmer, and Kay Thompson; 5 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 8 step great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 10th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Kevin Ratterman officiating.
Kenny Petz, Ryan Holenbeck, R.C. Sandvick, Ken McCall, Dr. Scott Dempewolf, and Tim Vandagriff will serve as pallbearers.
