Rosa Lee Meyer

Rosa Lee (Johnson) Meyer was born January 14, 1936, in Corona, New Mexico, to Jessie Lee and Charlotte May Johnson. She grew into a woman known for her hard-working determination and strength — qualities that would define her for the next nine decades. Rosa Lee passed peacefully from this life on July 20, 2026, surrounded by her adoring family.

In 1955, Rosa Lee married her love Harry James Meyer Jr., in Ardmore, Oklahoma. The two made their first home together in Ardmore before relocating to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where they raised their growing family. Together, Rosa Lee and Harry welcomed four children: Harry, Patricia, Rick, and Randy.

After her husband's passing, Rosa Lee showed the strength and determination that would define the rest of her life. She moved her family back home to Ardmore, where she devoted herself to raising her four children on her own. Never one to shy away from hard work, Rosa Lee opened a home daycare and later spent more than ten years working at Elmbrook and Southbrook Nursing Homes before her retirement.

Rosa Lee's free time reflected the same steady independence. She was an avid reader, rarely without a book in hand, and made regular trips to the library to keep her shelves, and her mind, full of new stories. She treasured shopping trips with her daughter and always bought in bulk. She made sure anyone who visited was well taken care of; no guest left her house empty-handed, as she always packed a bag of groceries or goodies to send with them when the left.

Rosa Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Lee and Charlotte May Johnson; her husband, Harry James Meyer; and her two sisters, Harriet Gardner and Donna Bridgeman.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia, and beloved son-in-law Dewayne Mauldin of Ardmore; son Harry Meyer of Gene Autry; son Rick and his wife Sherry Meyer of Lone Grove; and son Randy of Irving, Texas. She leaves behind grandchildren Jeff Mauldin and Jerrica Taylor of Lone Grove; Kari Holder of Newcastle; and Ricky Meyer, Jesse Meyer, and David Meyer all of Lone Grove; along with great-grandchildren Lydia Holder, Charlotte Holder, and Nash Mauldin.

Honorary bearers are Dewayne Mauldin, Randy Meyer, Jeffrey Mauldin, and Nash Mauldin.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude for the compassionate nurses, aides, and staff at Elmbrook Nursing Home and Good Shepherd Hospice, who made Rosa Lee’s last days comfortable and filled with love.

A private service will be held at a later date.
