Ardmore
Funeral services for Rosa Lea Vanway are scheduled for Wednesday, at
10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Ardmore, with Dr. Alton Fannin officiating.
Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Come and go visitation at the funeral home Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Rosie was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Orel Township, Wayne County, Ill, to
Russell Jay and Eva Dessie (Talbert) Woolever. She passed this life on June
5, 2022, in Ardmore.
She and Glen D. Vanway were married August 21, 1947, in Henderson, KY.
At one time in Rosie's life, she worked as a riveter in an assembly plant in
Fairfield, Il. She would go on to be a wonderful wife, mother, volunteer worker
and a Ward Clerk at Mercy Hospital, Ardmore. She was a faithful member of
the First Missionary Baptist Church in Ardmore. She volunteered every
Saturday at the Glen D. Vanway Downtown Mission.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Matthew Hodges, Wesley Hodges, Johnathon
Hodges, Joshua Hodges, Blake Scrugham, Kelsey Scrugham, Cruz
Campbell, Kallan Campbell, and Cameron Wyatt.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Sue "Carol" Scrugham of Ardmore;
sons, Michael Lamar "Mike" Vanway of Ardmore, James Steven "Jim"
Vanway and wife Marisela Vanway of Ardmore; Grandchildren, Gena Nalley
and husband Patrick, Dallas, Tx., Richard Scrugham and wife Erika of Celina,
TX., Chris Scrugham and wife Tammy of Sulphur, Addi Vanway, Sarah
Campbell and husband Garrett of Edmond, OK; Great-grandchildren,
Matthew "Matt" Hodges and wife Sarah, Wesley "Wes" Hodges, Joshua
"Josh" Hodges, Johnathon "John" Hodges, Blake Scrugham, Kelsey
Scrugham, Cruz Campbell, Kallan Campbell, and Cameron Wyatt.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice
Services, Ardmore, Oklahoma, and/or to Falls Creek Assembly, c/o First
Missionary Baptist Church, Ardmore, Oklahoma.
