Obituary

Ruth Ann (Brown) Bellamy went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 8, 2024. She was 89 years old.

Ruth was born July 15, 1935, to Gordon Bennett 'Shug' and Lela B. (King) Brown in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She graduated from Ardmore High School in 1953.

Ruth married the love of her life, Garland 'Buddy' Bellamy, on June 16, 1953. They were married 65 years and 10 months.

Shortly after they married, Ruth joined Buddy in Germany, where he was stationed in the Army. They lived there until May 1956. In 1964, Ruth and Buddy settled in Arlington, Texas, where they raised their 3 daughters. Ruth was a Pink Lady volunteer at Arlington Memorial Hospital, an Arlington Pregnancy Center counselor, and a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

In 1994, Ruth and Buddy moved to Ardmore to be near their youngest daughter, Stacy, who was a resident at Sunshine Industries Group Home. Soon after, Ruth started a candle-making business in downtown Ardmore. Her favorite hobbies were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, fishing, going to garage sales and being a Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness volunteer (helping people find information about their family history). Ruth looked forward to "a glorious reunion with my husband, my daughter, and my Lord."

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Shug and Lela Brown; husband, Buddy Bellamy (who went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2019); daughter, Stacy Linnea Bellamy (who went to be with the Lord on May 23, 2012); half-brother, Walter H. Eaves and nephew, Mark Lauderdale.

Ruth is survived by 2 daughters – Terry (Karl) Kemp and Cindy Bellamy; 7 grandchildren – Josh (Tanya) Kemp, Seth (Jinger) Kemp, Jesse (Sarah) Kemp, Michael (Ashley) Kemp, Alyssa (Derek) Kieschnick, Carly (Kyle) Jones, and Shaun (Alissa) McKee; 14 great-grandchildren – Noah, Lilyanne, Cora, Hazel, Sophie, Sam, Joy, Shiloh, Hudson, Ellie, Weston, Eli, Elle, and Koda; and 2 nephews – Rick Lauderdale and Bill Lauderdale.

Memorials may be made to Sunshine Industries Group Home or Sunshine Adult Day Services: online at sunshine-industries.org or 500 Park St SE, Ardmore, OK, 73401.

Special thanks to the loving and caring staff at Southbrook Healthcare, Ardmore, where Ruth spent her last 3 years.
