Samuel "Neil"
Sisson
Aug 11, 1955 — Aug 5, 2018
Samuel Neil Sisson, Jr., passed away from this life on August 5, 2018, after a short and valiant battle with cancer. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 516 McLish, Ardmore, Oklahoma, with Father Mike Stephenson, officiating. A reception will follow at the Craddock Funeral Home, 525 S. Commerce, Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Neil was born in Roanoke, Virginia on August 11, 1955, to Samuel Neil Sisson, Sr., and Ruth (Aheron) Sisson. After moving to Oklahoma, he graduated from Blackwell High School in 1973. The personal qualities that were to characterize his life were recognized in his college years at the University of Oklahoma. While working his way through school, he earned a BBA in Finance in 1977, and received his MBA from OU in 1980. Neil and Peggy Bookhout were married on November 18, 1978, in Dallas, Texas.
Neil worked as a Senior Staff Accountant at Arthur Anderson after graduation. He and Peggy moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, in 1982, where he became an independent oil and gas producer. He passionately and successfully pursued his career until the last day of his life.
Neil was proud of being an Eagle Scout, a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, and he loved St. Philip's Episcopal Church. He was involved in many civic, professional and non-profit organizations, including the Southern Oklahoma Petroleum Landman's Association and the Arbuckle Area Council of the Boy Scouts.
Neil was most happy when spending time with his family, on his tractor at his farm, at his Friday afternoon golf games, and Saturday OU football games. He attained many accomplishments in his life, but he was most proud of his beautiful daughter, Kristin, stellar son, Brady, and loving wife, Peggy. He will be missed by his many friends from high school, college, the oil business, the oilfield, Lake Murray and the golf course.
Neil is survived by his wife, Peggy of the home, son, Brady Sisson of Ardmore, Oklahoma, daughter, Kristin Sisson of Dallas, Texas, his father and mother, Samuel Neil Sisson, Sr. and Ruth Sisson, of Lakeland, Florida, three siblings, Anette, Brian and Laura, two brothers-in-law and their wives, Tom and Melissa Bookhout, and John and Janet Bookhout, his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Bookhout, and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Arbuckle Area Council of the Boy Scouts, P. O. Box 5309, Ardmore, OK 73403, or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P. O. Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486, "designated to Neil Sisson Nursing Research Fund."
