A Mass of Christian Burial for Sergio Banda Arevalo will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ardmore on Friday, January 16, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial at Provence Cemetery in Dickson, Oklahoma. Viewings will take place Wednesday, January 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Thursday, January 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather after the services at St. Mary's Parish Hall in Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Sergio Banda Arevalo, age 58, of Ardmore, Oklahoma, passed away on January 3, 2026. He was born on March 22, 1967, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, to Rogelio Banda and Maria Olivia Banda. Sergio was a hardworking man who was deeply loved by all who knew him. He was known for his funny personality, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and for being easygoing and kind-hearted. Sergio was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and consistently put others before himself. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, which was his greatest joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rogelio Banda and Maria Olivia Banda, his brother and niece Benito Banda and Nancy Banda Sergio is survived by his loving wife, Oralia Banda; his children: Bianca Banda; Sergio Banda and wife Ruth Banda; Erendira Ortiz and husband Victor Ortiz; and Cristal Mata and husband Pedro Mata. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Leonardo Banda, Maritza Banda, Julio Banda, Citlaly Martinez, Efrain Banda, David Martinez, Abraham Dimas, Ivan Martinez, Leonel Martinez, Wendy Dimas, Natalia Martinez, Xavier Castro, Mia Martinez, Dominque Martinez, Braylyn Mata, Andrae Martinez, Marlene Martinez, Feddrah Mata, Bella Mata, Isabella Rodriguez, Luis Rodriguez, and Benjamin Mata. Sergio was blessed to know his great-grandchildren: Amora Banda, Mateo Banda, Ayelen Dimas, and Ezekiel Banda. He is also survived by his siblings and extended family: Inocencio Banda and family, Maria Ines Banda and family, Margarito Banda and family, Hilda Banda and family, Rogelio Banda and family, Blanca Banda and family, and Melissa Banda and family, Rogelio Banda and Family, Lori Banda and Family, Selena Banda and Family and Benito Banda Jr.
Sergio will always be remembered for his generosity, laughter, and the love he gave so freely to his family and community.
