Shannon Danielle
Smith
Aug 10, 1943 — Jan 17, 2025
Ardmore
The gates of heaven opened wide, and trumpets sounded for Shannon Danielle Smith on Friday, January 17, 2025. Shannon lived to be 81 years old. Services to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm and will be held in the Craddock Memorial Chapel in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at the Ringling Memorial Cemetery in Ringling, Oklahoma with her grandsons, Justin, Talon and Tanner Smith, close family friends, David Pap, Devan Johnson, and Jeff Vaillancourt serving as pallbearers.
The family will host visitation at Craddock Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The former Shannon Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 10, 1943, to Shirlee Mae and William F. Jones. After attending school in Corpus Christi, Texas, Shannon moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where she met her future husband Charles "Skeet" Smith. After daughter, Patricia, was born they relocated to Ringling, Oklahoma and started building their future together. There they welcomed their second child, Charles H. Smith, Jr. known affectionately as "Chuck" and then their third child Michael W. Smith. While Skeet built his trucking business, Shannon was happy to be a stay-at-home mom. That role grew upon Chuck's illness at 7 months old, which left him with developmental disabilities. This opened the door for Shannon's involvement with parental support groups for children with disabilities. That opened door led to Shannon convincing Skeet to become involved for the start of such service agencies today like "CCARC," "Sunshine Industries, Inc," and "OARC." She and Skeet were also Instrumental in helping bring busses and establishing bus routes from local rural schools to Ardmore, Oklahoma for much needed special education classes. Her accomplishments in this field paved the way and opened so many doors. Her later years were filled by raising various breeds of dogs as well as other animals at her home in Ardmore, Oklahoma. If you have a Yorkshire terrier, chances are it came from a line that Shannon raised! This was a passion she continued until she was no longer physically able.
Leaving behind to cherish her memory is daughter Patti Smith, son Michael Smith and wife Jenifer, and her beloved Chuck Smith. Anyone that was familiar with the family knows that Chuck was her world, and she was his. Also cherishing her memory are grandchildren, Maggie Smith, Justin Smith, Talon Smith, Tanner Smith, and Jessica Smith. Along with the grandchildren, there are 5 great-grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mays Home Health and Hospice and all the friends and family who have reached out to share a sweet memory of Shannon.
