Obituary

A memorial service for Rev. Stephen "Chappie" Harris is scheduled for Saturday, February 26. 2022 at 11:00 am in Maranatha's Freewill Baptist Church.

He graduated from Deering High School in Deering Maine and Nyack Missionary college where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Theology on May 30, 1960. He and Roberta McDonald were married on October 29, 1948, in Portland, Maine.

Rev. Harris was a member of The Christian Missionary Alliance Church for 37 years. For most of those years, he served as the minister. He served as a volunteer Chaplain for the Ardmore Police Department for 24 years retiring in 2005. He was also a volunteer Chaplain for the fire department, ambulance service and was currently the chaplain for the Ardmore Village. He also served his country in the U.S. Army being honorably discharged on February 26, 1946.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife Roberta, three brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by his son Bruce Harris and his wife Pam of Mineola, Tx; grandchildren, Lisa Avery and husband Wes of Rockwall, Tx., Brandon Adams and his wife CeCe of Glendale, Ca.; Greatgrandchildren, Tinley and Cole Avery of Rockwall, Tx.
